Official Air Jordan 13 Retro Thread

i wonder if the 13's will be as popular as the 12's in 2016 ?

I'm going to say no. Most hype is with Adidas/Boost right now. I see people trying to resell J's now and shoes are just sitting. I think the people who want them will get them, unless the shoe is marketed right and hype is created (Space Jams), should be an ok release.

13's man...can't wait. Black/White (He Got Games :lol ) were my first Jordan's ever. Love them. I thought that hologram was so cool on the side in 4th grade :smokin

I never understood the XII hype. They were OK shoes.

da XII's popularity increased over da years, i say they're more popular now than when they originally dropped, they used to just be "cool" because of da classic XI & XIII's sandwiched em.

Around me 12s and 13s weren't that popular when they dropped in the 90s. I feel like the 11s were the last huge Jordan release that were a must have. A few real Jordan fans had them but most people thought they were wack. People ****rd with Penny's hard, Iversons, and anything with a strap.

Yup. I remeber the Penny II's came out at the same time, everyone had those. I remember the XII's being on discount @ eastbay.

My firt pair of Penny's were the III's. I think thats also when I picked up the black/red XIII's. I actually went to footaction to get the black/red XIIIs, they didn't have them, so I went with the Penny III's.

yep, although he also wore PEs and all-star XIII's in some playoff games too.

point being they debuted at da all star game.

It's not quite that simple. The Navy XIII was supposed to be the all-star shoe and was released the week of the all-star game. However, like the year before, the NBA decided to have players wear their team jersey in the all-star game, forcing Jordan to debut his playoff shoe early. So although the playoff XIII was worn in the all-star game, it was not the all-star release. It was released for the playoffs and is the shoe Jordan was wearing when the playoffs started.

Hmmm......thanks for that info.  I didn't know that.

I'm 34 years old now, and at 13 years old I wanted the Orlando colorway Penny I's sooooo badly, but they sold out quickly. I had the chance to get the Concord XI's, but I thought they were ugly. I even remember the original ad for the Concord XI's with no text or words....just the shoe and a phone number. I ended up getting the Air Way Up's instead because I thought that they most closely resembled the Penny I's. When the Penny II's came out, I got every single color way. My very first pair of J's ever wasn't until the Space Jam's back in 2000.

Re-upping if these joints are really "remastered"

Can't recall the last time Jordan Brand used to term "remastered" on recent releases.  "True OG" for the TB3s, Space Jams for the 9s and 11s more than "remastered"... are they still trying to push that gimmick...?

Come to think of it you're right
Was 2015 the last time we saw a "remastered" release?

Whatever term they decide to use; I need these upcoming retros to do the OG justice.

He is wearing the highs in the second pic though :lol

To add to the info above on the low PEs, I know for sure he wore the all black/red low in game 4 vs the Pacers and for the first half of game 2 of the finals, then switched back to the highs, and the 3M all-star lows in game 2 vs the Pacers, and at least of game 5 in the finals.

Some more shots... (note the "playoff" lows do not have the yellow circle and have 3M mesh

I dont know but these might have just become my favorite colorway. I could rock these. Nike needs to do something about this.

12s were a huuuuge disappointment after anticipating what was next aftr the 11. Thts why they werent a must cop. I really think they were reduced to what we got compared to what you can tell thy wanted to be. It just looks incomplete to me. Like it was too expensive to go all the way with or something. Im convinced that jumpman tab was supposed to be the carbon fiber winged up cradling your midfoot with the grooves in the rubber cut out to the top and not filled in. They filled the grooves in because they cut corners wih the carbon fiber. Since it wasnt one piece anymore the grooves needed to be filled in to hide the section between the plastic and the carbon. Im convinced. The cheap plastic random tab just doesnt make sense otherwise. They wouldve looked like a futuristic take on the 11 instead of the womens shoe inspiration nonsense. And it wouldve been a proper sequel to it as well.

Since this was the final Air Jordan under Nike, maybe they intentionally dropped the appeal in an attempt to buy out Jordan's contract or whatever. In other words, maybe it was attempt to cheapen the shoe so that they could better negotiate keeping it.

With that said, Taxis are ok though. I hope they keep it real and put an airsole in it and not zoom when they come out again.

^^the Air Jordan XII was the first AJ to feature Zoom Air cushioning originally.. I don't know what you're talking about lol
