Pretty sure those first retro IIIs didn’t release on Jan. 1 ‘94. I was in HS then and huge into bball and sneakers and those weren’t seen anywhere till much later in the year.

I guess they're not doing a raffle for the black/purple 13s. I didn't really expect them to but after what happened to the young man at Shoe Palace I thought everything was moving to raffles.

The popularity of Air Jordan colorways was once more individualized and region-specific than present-day sensibilities. In New York, those Chutneys were more beloved than the black-and-navy lows -- if anything, Cherries were the least popular, here (as far as Manhattan went at least).

Gorgeous shoes. The brand hasn't offered us that level of quality since the XX1.

The '04 release, while great, didn't touch the original: suede dye, tongue height and overall shape were still off.

I got the black/purple XIII last Saturday on release day from Hollywood & Highland Foot Locker. They're my first release I got this year. I'm glad I didn't burn any points on head starts for these on the FLX apps. I'm glad it was easy for me to get.

I like the way they came out. I don't give a damn that these weren't sought after by everyone because that's not what it's about for me. I got them because I liked them and needed a colorway like this in my possession. I know the shape of the XIII gets disparaged constantly, but I'll live with it.
