Once you verify your identity you just click through on the webpage where the QR popped up. Agree to terms, select tier level and then they give you payment info.

I think JK or Fap mentioned that you can use the Coinbase app to put in buys at certain price levels, so even if the app/site crashes it still works... but how do you do that?

gdax.com, it's coinbase's exchange. You can only set price alerts on Coinbase.
