if this was an actual ending id agree, but im taking it as a long episode of dbz because the anime will pick back up where the movie endedMovie was ok, ending was weak.
warning this is gonna be a long post but lots of interesting stuff in here i promise
Just watched the movie in theaters, in english. First i want to say that i loved it. maybe i wasnt disappointed because i saw most of it on youtube and looked up pretty much everything that has to do with the movie, maybe i was a little less closed minded because i know its just a small piece of the dragon ball super story, or maybe im just not as pessimistic as most of NT but boy seeing it on the big screen def does DBZ justice. And watching it in English definitely lets you catch details that you really miss. You can definitely tell that gaps were intentionally left in this movie for Super to fill
Ive got a couple points/observations/speculation i want to make after seeing the movie. most of it is based on dialogue of the characters.
first thing is im almost positive that whis is not a god, nor does he have god ki. reasoning being is that in conversations between whis and beerus, beerus emphasizes the fact that he is a god. and he is the deity of the two. never once mentioning whether or not whis has any godly aspects at all. whis is an entirely different race/being from this god talk
My biggest observation/speculation of the movie though is that i dont believe that the form that goku and vegeta took in that movie is stronger than the super sayaian god form we saw in the movie BOG. ive got a couple reasons for believing that. through out the entire movie whis and beerus talk about how strong goku and vegeta have gotten and they emphasize on how strong and unstoppable they would be if they worked together. beerus/whis stated a couple of times that if they worked together they could easily over come freiza, and whis even said that if they worked together they could even beat beerus. and goku and vegeta both said they tried that already and would hate to do it again (fusion reference/forshadowing????)
Now, if i recall correctly in BoG it was stated that SSG goku was about 80% of beerus right? well if this transformation was superior goku would be gain a power boost far greater than the 20% needed to match beerus other wise it wouldnt be much of a transformation. another thing that makes lean towards that is because both vegeta and goku describe that form as "tapping into the power of a god" or something along those lines and trained to access the power powers of a god. meaning at some point in the gap between movies learned to access a PORTION of the power of a SSG. kinda like in naruto. its powerful and can be accessed without the whole ritual thing but it isnt the full SSG form we saw, and thats probably shows the difference in appearance and why goku and vegeta have to go super sayain in order to amplify ithe power.
also in the movie it beerus complain about the fact that goku and vegeta have been traveling back and forth from earth to his planet making a lot of noise while training with whis, during the convo goku tells beerus that he has to keep contacting whis to transport him and vegeta to that planet because he cant sense beerus's ki. (With out even mentioning whether or not he can sense whis's ki at all) which again leads to believe they arent in SSG form. or have full/any use of godly ki
and thats pretty much it. still no explanation as to why gohan is so weak or what the hell whis is. but im almost certain we're gonna be introduced to fusion again from how often they hinted at it. Anyone else see the movie in theaters?

My bad the 80% number I got was Goku saying he was fighting at about 80% when he transformed. My point still stands though. If that form was a mastered form/transformation of super Saiyan God that plus training would have definitely put him in league with beerus if AT's 6-10 statement stands. At no point in that movie was it even implied that goku in his current state was any where close to beerus even when he transofrmed. But Whis makes it pretty clear it would take both goku and Vegeta to beat him.Akira Toriyama stated that in terms of power Goku super saiyan God is a 6, Beerus is a 10, and Whis is a 15
How come goku don't wanna teach anyone else instant transmission. I mean they speaking like Whis the fastest being in this universe, but Goku and Vegeta got to earth wayyy before Whis and Beerus did.
Regardless of the scaling though, i dont think my theory is a huge reach if we put a cap on beerus's power. just seems to me that goku and vegeta were very deliberate with their words when they said they have tapped into the power of a god, never really saying they have become gods. which may just be the way funimation chose to translate it lolThe statement from BoG was that Beerus was using 70% of his power, not 80%.
Akira's statement of Beerus being a 10 compared to Goku's 6 actually made me think that Beerus was just even stronger than was originally implied with that comment.
I mean, he also never taught anyone else Kaioken eitherFilm was legit though, I liked it as well.

Actually...piccolo yamcha and tien all know kaioken from training with king kai...piccolo mention it when he was fighting Dr.gero
Goku was the only person able to master the Kaioken. Everyone else just trained on King Kai's planet with him.You sure about that? Because I don't remember any such mention. Might be an anime only thing though, because I just re-read the fight in the manga and there's no mention of King Kai at all.
The fact that they're taking equal amounts of Frieza's soldiers instead of Piccolo just washing all of them like he should've been
^^Where did you get that Krillin and Tien are as strong as Piccolo? Also didn't Gohan say that he left Goten and Turnks behind?
Watched the movie yesterday.. Loved the movie but hate the fact that gohan was so weak where he was just mystic gohan in BOG. Dude died from 1 punch. Goku didnt even need to turn SSJ to beat frieza prior to the golden form. What's that tell ya? Smh
Also Whis stated that the reason goku and Vegeta were too slow is because of how they think before they act blah blah.. Ummmm Goku can do instant transmission and whis cant so thats **** doesnt make sense
The re-telling in super sucks to be honest.. All they do is drag it with more scenes.. I was hoping they tell more backgrounds of beerus and whis, etc
They better show how vegeta tapped into the god level maybe in between BOG and resurrection of f arc..
Oh yea, wheres buu and the kids? Thats like POP resting his starters whenever they play good teams
