I don’t know the answers, I’m a nobody behind a keyboard, this is just my coping mechanism for whatever we were just force fed. I’m trying to figure out ANY way this season could have been better. I’m not even picky on which one someone would go with, just something better more inline with the first 6 (do I even count the 7th anymore?) seasons.

6 Eps

1.
Filler ep I guess, maybe we could add 15-20 minutes to the episode to get a couple more things done and move our timeline up a little bit. Re-gather from King’s Landing ep 7. Maybe we send the armies on foot, but leave Dany/Jon + 2 dragons behind (and a small detail as guards, Greyworm, few Dothraki, etc) Maybe have some Dany/Cersei discussion. Jamie works harder to convince her maybe. Choose your path, yes she commits to help the cause, no she stands her ground. I’m fine either way. (tho it probably helps me later if Cersei doesn’t help) At some point, you hit the road. Dany/Jon by air, the rest on foot. This time, Bronn comes with. Him staying behind does not work. Jamie/Tyrion are going, no way he stays behind for nothing. Sansa/Arya/Bran start to gather incoming troops, Davos is one of the first to arrive. Have Tormund and Berrick show up on their own. Not stop by the Umbers. They are ahead of the dead and running. Maybe Eddy and a small detail do run into the Umber boy, the sign on the wall, all that just minus two characters witnessing. (This eliminates the whole behind the dead, arrive before the dead stupidity, and maybe you kill Eddy at the Umber sign, like 1-2 White Walkers straggling and handle some business right there. Give you the Umber boy AND Eddy as deaths in ep 1. Small raise of the stakes. I’m not asking for a complete destruction of the episode, just some speeding up. Eliminate the Dragon flying stuff for no reason, this time you have it as Jon’s “learning” by going from KL to Winterfell. No waterfalls, no make out sessions, none of that. Reunions can still take place, Arya/Gendry/Hound etc. End has everyone pretty much arrive, the group around the fire “saying goodbye” so to speak, Knight Brianne but not the Tormund milk stuff. We’re all gonna die tonight, but we’ll die together, and this time, some of these members will actually die. Sam can tell Jon his lineage, he has to deal with that in his head.
Final scene, hoof prints far outside Winterfell.

2.
Same with ep 1, try to get an extra 10-15 minutes of time for the episode. Since they did manage to spend a few minutes still setting up, you can still do that here. Now you move that planning strategy as final prep. Soldiers are lined up. Trenches dug. Dragonglass weapons. All that same stuff, but last second planning details happen here as they brace. Everyone in position, move people out. Since Dany stayed behind, Jamie tried to help, no need for the “trial” hosted by Starbucks stuff. Now he’s there, and helping. Assignments take place, you take this ridge, you guard Bran, etc etc. Now we move it all outside, Melisandre shows up, but not alone. She has that Rachel Weisz lookalike witch and a couple others to help. Light the Dothraki, do that whole thing, we can keep that in for the beauty of the scene and the raiding of the tension. When you snuff them out, do a better job showing how many went, vs how many came back. Ya know what, throw a couple around Bran to make it less like the whole horde went out in an instant. More than one giant. I absolutely demand we do better there. 3-4 at minimum. None killed by children. First wave comes hording in. Wipeout. Better lighting, let’s have a little more clarity to everything. Unsullied getting moshed, Dothraki already wiped (minus a few dozen I suppose) Northerners are getting whooped, people have to go down now, actual characters. Sam should be first, the weakest link. Podrick should be in there as well. Dragons are burning as much as they can. Main warriors are doin their best, Bronn adds another body and someone that will do damage. Arya doin work as she was, but this time Generals are in the mix. Not sayin all of them, but some. Jorah/Jamie/Brianne take out a couple, and with that it wipes out a few wights. Helps “even” the fight a smidge vs the complete shellacking the living were taking. The battle has begun, and we get close to wrapping up, a WW gets Bronn and he goes down. Jamie sees it, Jon, Brianne, etc. Then we get into the Night King shows his face. The war has just begun….

3.
Two eps in, and you’ve had a few deaths now. We’ve completely sped up the process, no Arya sex, no Aladdin dragon flying wastes of time, and the war isn’t over in a single ep. We all know this is about to get bad for some folks. Night King and his Generals are doin work, couple Giants to deal with, maybe you dragon burn one or two of them. Red Witches are sitting back with Davos, they have the ability to add a few spells that can help with the remaining 1-2 Giants. Little something “new” we didn’t get with the actual S8 version of the battle. Something powerful, but not so easy as to just dust thousands of dead at once. NK and Jon/Dany do the dance of dragons. Have some fun, some cool visuals, that can all stay. Eventually they have to come land/fall, however you want them back on the surface. Everyone has everyone’s back. Greyworm gets Jorah, Jamie and Brianne, Arya and Hound, more Generals in the mix and now the Night King is ground level as is Jon. NK runs into Berrick and they go at it for a short scene, Berrick thinks he has him and swings his flaming sword and the Night King catches it like nothing. (first hint fire ain’t it chief) Down goes Berrick. I don’t need the library and I don’t need him saving Arya. Hound at least gets another General close by, and Jon is trying to get to the party. Instead of the library scene, we let the NK do his army raise only this time, the soldiers in the crypts fight FOR the living. (another small way of evening the odds and adding a new flavor, the magic of Winterfell. (like what they reference in The Wall by Bindgeon) Not a ton, maybe 8-10 dead soldiers, but they are helping the living in the crypts a true :eek moment. With a few thousand raised again, odds are back against the living (of course) and now it happens, Brianne goes down, and Jamie loses it. Gendry goes down. Greyworm goes down. But Dany has NK in her sights, Dracarys. Nothing, smile, keep all that. We like it. He’s on to Bran. Theon does his thing but here come the Generals and the NK. (you can either kill Theon here or leave him for later you pick, but for this, I’ll save him for now) Jon, Arya, Hound, Jamie, Jorah make it there. Dany and Drogon take off again after NK go back to burning sweeps and trying to clear as many as they can. Red witches finally go down, not by taking off necklaces but by wights/Generals. Joran is killed by a General, Arya takes down multiple generals, Night King and Jon square off solidly. Choose your path however you want to go. Jon beats NK, Arya steps in and saves Jon and gets the NK, or you can have NK wipe them all out. Whatever floats your boat. To keep it as similar as I can, I’ll go with Arya makes the move to get him, down they all go, we’ve lost even more important soldiers/arcs than the real one and we move forward.

4.
Jamie, Dany, Arya, Tyrion, Jon, Sansa are all crushed. Jamie is actually mad at Cersei. This will help close them better than rocks. They do their celebrating and all that. Plan for what’s next. Jon still reeling from Sam telling him the truth. He hasn’t told anyone yet, but he doesn’t have to, Bran is alive of course. Couple weeks have gone by to clean up, burn, mourn, all that. Jamie/Tyrion discuss what to do, how to handle Cersei. Jamie asks for permission in a rare scene with Dany. (he did kill her father, surprised how little they did actually interact) Hound/Arya can still do their walk off thing. 20K soldiers, bunch of new Scorpions on the towers, Cersei has clearly been prepping. I’ve done away with the Euron “earn your Queen” booty call bs from Ep 1 but replaced with Theon is still alive and will go for Yara and revenge. Rather than fly down and do the stupid dragon kill and Misandei beheading, we treat this as a filler like ep 1. Ep 1 + 2 eps for war. Ep 4 + 2 eps for war. I’m not saying it’s perfect, 10 episodes would have been better, but if I follow the format they have allotted with minor adjustments, this is the best I can do. We prep for heading down to King’s Landing. Of course you have some if not for us you’d all be dead stuff, Jamie is furious with Cersei, Euron wants to pop off, Mountain is there to interject enough, cooler heads and all that, Dany has some sharp remarks, Cersei her witty tongue. We have some viable dialogue and create a tension we didn’t get in real S8. Jon is last to head down (he has a dragon) and he tells Sansa the truth. Tyrion, Jamie etc are all gone already, less risk for her to play the game of Telephone and be spreading the truth so easily. Plants some seeds in her mind, sure. Jon flies off to meet down in KL, Arya already on the road, nowhere for her to go with the info. (at least now, we get a reaction from Sansa being told the truth, we didn’t get that before) Talks stall, it’s time to dance, the North army lines up as they do outside the gates (far enough back) Jon and Dany meet up to plan dragon attack while soldiers prep on the opposite side. Jamie stays in KL because he “belongs” there. But he’s trying to get her to listen to him. Closing of Ep 4 is Jon tells Dany the truth about his name.

5.
This time there are two dragons, and a Targaryen on each of them. They can certainly do damage, but the other side can throw the Scorpions out pretty good too, so it’s a more balanced fight. They come for the ships, fire blazing from each side, much easier to digest. After a pass or two, Dany heads for the gates and blows it out same as the OG. Jon is skimming the water on a straif run and catches one in his dragon, he’s low enough to land in water after a couple of skips from the dragon, but they are down to 1 now (not like that’s not enough of course) Jon will survive in the water same as Euron did. Dany will return to finish the ships (but doesn’t go after Jon) Castle is blown open, so the actual soldiers begin their marches and get to work, no swords laid down, no easy wiping out of the entire castle walls, but certainly enough damage to let the army in the gates. Hound and Arya have their same speech. I love this piece a ton, I wouldn’t mess with it. Arya can go elsewhere to fight. We know Hound and Mountain are gonna dance. Jamie is yelling at Cersei to stop this nonsense and let’s go type vibe. She’s not havin it. The war continues and Euron’s ship heads towards land. The reason Jon was straifing earlier was he was making a delivery, Theon is at that beach, and from the other side Davos is leading a small group to the bay to assist. Theon and Euron will duke it out (instead of Jamie) and Jon will show up as well. Euron will get the best of Theon, but not good enough for Jon. Davos and his small group will show up and free Yara and she’ll take the ship. Arya has joined the battle and is taking Golden Army dudes down with ease, the small amount of Dothraki and Unsullied do their work as well and the battle is not as one sided as it ended up being, Dany can certainly take them out in bunches, but at least she’s getting ground support and it’s not just a King’s Landing BBQ. Jamie finally has enough and tells Cersei it’s time to go we’ve got to get out of here, you should have just joined them when you had the chance, she bites back about Brianne tempers flare and in true Jamie fashion, he stabs her in the back. The Mountain jumps to it and Jamie isn’t surviving that and goes down pretty easily. He falls pretty much next to Cersei, you get them dying together but in a different fashion. (and not under rocks) The Mountain turns, and there’s Hound, standing in the doorway.

6.
Hound and Mountain finish their arcs. It eventually ends up with them outside, you can get all the same shots, the same beats, same everything as best you can. It ends as it does in the show. The overall fighting is over. Dany lands, Jon makes it into the city, soldiers are rounding up, we haven’t randomly burned innocents or kids or anything. She heads for the throne, he heads for the throne, Tyrion, Misandei, Varys also head for the Throne. Tormund has his Wildlings and the North army, the Dotraki and Unsullied are lesser, but still there and viable. No loud speeches that there’s no way anyone could hear, no Imperial scenes stolen, just fractions of the armies around the city. Arya sees Jon and heads for the throne room as well. Daenerys is already sitting in the throne, it’s hers, she feels she’s won. Dragon chillin off to the side happy she’s happy. She’s happy overall, but unhappy with Jon obviously but it’s not his fault. He doesn’t care, doesn’t want it, all that. This is choose your path, you can have him chill and walk or you can have him clash with her. Whatever you prefer. If you want Jon on the throne, now’s the time, if you want Dany it’s already there, if you want conflict and a battle, you can do that too. For this, we could have them clash, Tormund and a few soldiers from the North come thru, a few Unsullied/Dothraki, it’s a big party. They fight over whatever, in this case she could demand the North stays under her and wants Sansa’s approval. Arya says she’ll never agree, Jon says they’ve done enough and should be free, tempers flare, Tormund and some soldiers square off, Tyrion and Varys try to calm everyone. Jon announces who he is. Huge revelation for Tyrion and Varys especially, even Arya is stunned. Door opens and Sansa/Bran come strollin thru. He obviously could see all this coming, he’s right where he’s supposed to be and all that. He gives the full details and confirms Jon is who he is. Dany is even more angry and lashes out in Dothraki/Unsullied language to attack, Arya/Tormund/Jon kill a few of them off, and as Dany screams Dracarys to light them up, Jon puts his hand out and yells STOP to which the dragon listens. You know that’s gonna piss her off and she grabs a sword and lunges for Bran/Sansa just as an Unsullied steps in her way and ends her, silently. The unsullied turns and removes the helmet, Arya stands there. (she wears black similar to them, and rather than slicing a face, a simple helmet was enough for this one) Jon is the unquestioned leader now, Tyrion/Varys/Bran pose as a dynamic council, Arya a helluva master of arms, Sansa can handle the North etc etc. Misandae is free to go as she chooses, or she could stay and be a part of the counsel. Drogon will also be around, only now he’s down with Jon, which basically makes him the baddest dude alive and no one is going to come looking for problems any time soon. He also gives the choices to the remaining Unsullied/Dothraki whether they want to live in Westoros or travel back to their homes if they wish.

I dunno, I truly typed this out in one sitting, today. I'm not a writer or anything like that, I just typed. I didn’t spend weeks or months on it, or even really try all that hard. I did it in between tasks at work and just thinkin thru things in my head, things that bothered me, their sloppy rushed mistakes, wasting time organizing chairs but can't spend time explaining huge details or scenes. I probably have a bunch of spelling errors and that nonsense, probably killed somebody twice, but it can’t be any worse than what we got. :lol If I truly typed what EYE wanted, just what I would have wanted to see story wise, I would have the Night King wipe it all out. North retreating down to King’s Landing, joining up with Cersei, just getting molly whooped. Final scenes of the series with NK walking into the Throne room and whoopin up on Jon/Dany/Arya, even waxin the Mountain like it was nothin. END the story at that moment. World over, story over. And then go back and do all your spin-offs/prequels. Now no matter what they do, we’ll always have, well, what’s Jon doin up North? How’s Bran as the King? Where’d Arya go? I would have ended the **** out of that. But in terms of just goin with what the 8 full seasons were about, Jon v Dany for the Throne suffices, and I wouldn’t be mad at either one sitting there. But Bran? What a joke.

Sorry for the long *** post.

Even tho I'm not the biggest fan of Arya's super ninja assassin skills, I love her character. Definitely one of my favorites. Great job casting. Arya is supposed to look just like Jon, and Maisie definitely fits the part of Kit's sister.

Literally the only scene from last night that did anything for me.

How it should have gone...........

Jon pulls out a knife to stab Dany right when grey worm runs in....he kills her before he can get to jon. They fight and Jon kills grey worm. The dragon comes up,Loses his **** and shoots flames at Jon standing in front of the throne. Throne melts and Jon still stands.......The dragon says oh **** and bows. Jon hops on and flys to kill the unsullied and Dothraki. Jon says **** it, I still don’t want the throne and gives it to gendry with Bran as the hand, and everyone else in the same position.

Bronn gets Master of Coin....no rebuilding of the destroyed communities...no repairing of boats...first legislation is more brothels. Not bad :smokin
