If you think there's a chance GRRM and the show runners would really end the show with everybody dying and the whitewalkers winning then yeah it doesn't matter what these ppl do until then.
But if you think nah GRRM isn't that much of a cruel heartless bastard to just kill everybody and that eventually the living will defeat the whitealkers then it definitely matters what sorts of scheming and murders go down before the whitewalkers arrive and during the war with them cuz after they win whoever is left standing is gonna be running ****.
