Pretty much. However book 3 will be split over seasons 3 and 4 since so much still has to happen. Is each season supposed to cover one book?
For those of you who read book 3...I just finished the book yesterday and was wondering where you think the cut off will be? I'm assuming they show the red wedding and Joffrey's death. Also I think they'll have Ygritte die since it wouldn't make sense to kill her off like one or two eps into season 4. Also the battles at castle black and the wall should happen right? Maybe they combine them somehow. I wonder if they have Stannis come through at the end. The Tyrion trial I'm thinking is next season. Maybe they introduce the Red Viper at Joff's wedding and set up the trial by combat for next season. So much still to go. Book 3 was crazy.
I disagree. there are members in that thread that are only as far as book three.
edit nvmBeware tons of spoiler questions ahead. For those of you who read book 3...I just finished the book yesterday and was wondering where you think the cut off will be? Started up book 4 and there's already like ten new characters from iron islands and dorne I'm gonna have to learn lol.
Yea I actually been using Tower of the Hand. It has chapter recaps etc and it lets you set the scope level so it hides possible spoilers.Once you finish the books, read the wiki. Very helpful with the info that you may have missed or the people mentioned only once or twice.

I just wanted to comment on this post and say that there are a years worth of spoilers here in chills post and my response. If you do not want the show ruined do not click this post.
Can't ask him to go to the book thread because he's only read book 3 With that being said...
The red wedding will happen for sure this season it should happen at the end of the next episode. In regards to everything involving people from Dorne that's next season for sure. The RV has already been confirmed. The big battle at the wall will be next season as well. Stannis should show up like in the books as its a very important plot point for the future. I don't think Joffrey will die this season but some people do. I really think we'll see the person in book 3's epilogue and cold hands this season.

Speaking of tower of the hand they had an interesting theory. Although I'm almost certain it's not spoilers I'll hide it just in caseAh even better for you then

The theory is that Jon Snow is really the son of Rhaegar and Lyanna Stark. Ned basically promised her that he'd raise Jon and lie to hide him from King Robert who wasn't exactly fond of the Targaryens. So that would make Dany his aunt. Song of Ice and Fire = Jon ?
Would that make him the rightful King of Westeros?
I've read that there's only one guy who can prove that fact as well.
