i was gonna actually ask how to play some licks like Always & Forever lol, coincidence that you posted a vid in that thread lol. did you sound it out yourself? i cant really do that, only basic chords. i taught my self how to play but for a good portion of that time i didnt have a 6th string so i didnt really play that high up ever. plus an acoustic doesnt go as high as an electric.Originally Posted by Adrian1221

on to another subject....does anyone know how to properly play this part that goes down like 4 chords (0:40 till about 0:4 :
a lot of songs use it but i never really tabbed it properly. i got it down a bit but i know its not perfect cause it sounds better when i use two strings instead of four.
The cool cat behind that song is jairus mozee. Very chill man. Ageniuson the guitar. He came up with that bminor run during a sound check and dropped it on that song. I can post a tutorial on it if u want but i voice the chords. He does something almost like it but different fingering. However, note for note im playing it the same. The chords for the rest of the song are Bm7, Eminor7, G/A, then Cmaj7i was gonna actually ask how to play some licks like Always & Forever lol, coincidence that you posted a vid in that thread lol. did you sound it out yourself? i cant really do that, only basic chords. i taught my self how to play but for a good portion of that time i didnt have a 6th string so i didnt really play that high up ever. plus an acoustic doesnt go as high as an electric.

Also, any sites with songs written in sheet music notation? Instead of just tabs?

I'm not sure which genre I want to play most, but I guess it would be along the lines of what I hear from my favorite indie / alternative rock artists.Originally Posted by spizike231
An instructional DVD is not as good as someone personally teaching you, the DVD can't answer all of your questions, but if you don't have someone who can help you then I usually go on YouTube or figure it out myself.Originally Posted by wildmoodswings
I just purchased an acoustic guitar earlier this year. I've got no prior experience on a guitar, so I'll need all the help possible.
I'm considering purchasing an instructional DVD, but am not sure how effective it would be. And yes, I definitely want to learn how to read music, and not just know how to play by ear.
Reading music is a must for advanced players, but so is playing by ear. Playing by ear is a really good talent to have and it took me song long to even get it down slightly. Some are more gifted there than others.
Congrats on picking up an acoustic btw, know what type of music you wanna play?

It depends. Electric or Acoustic? What defines "inexpensive" for you?

More than likely acoustic. About $500 max for a guitar.
