but unfortunately I think that's how far the ducks will get all the time with just a "good young core"...
they've had that title for a long time now and they cant get over the hump... they maybe a little above average but they have their share of weak ***** plays... recent example is cam getting punked for position on the 4th goal... ducks need to start thinking about acquiring an elite defenseman IMO...

Who can we acquire in the offseason that is elite though? Plus we will probably lose Eaves in the summer too, along with retaining a bunch of aging forwards.
We will probably have to do a full rebuild by 2019.

That's not on Cam. Cam had the left of Bernier covered on the zone entry with Silf on the right. Silf vacated his position for no reason and Perry half assed it to cover for him.


They don't need an elite d-man. Fowler/Manson and Lindholm/Montour is going to be a great top 4 for years. What they need are star forwards who can be counted on to produce in big games. Perry and Getzlaf are not and will never be those guys.

We're stuck suffering the same kind of heartbreaking defeats year after year until Getzlaf and Perry are gone. Eaves is good, but he literally can't make it through a season healthy.

There isn't much they can really do. They'll be trading Vatanen probably for futures. Best case scenario is Sam Steel comes in and sets the league on fire. He was our 1st last year and led the CHL in scoring at over 2 points per game.

Canadian media has been making so many excuses too. Rink too far away, bad traffic, bad parking, ect.

Not a good look for Canadian expansion, that's for sure.
