LV: Reflection/thoughts on the Detroit series, specifically performances of Getzlaf, Perry, and Ryan?

Going to voice my support for Etem one more time.

Ottowa is a scrappy bunch. Resilient to say the least.

Perry- Had TONS of chances. Could not buy a goal. Not acceptable for a guy who just signed a monster extension, but I'm not worried. He wasn't himself from the start of the season for whatever reason.

Ryan- A lot of our fans want to trade him because when he isn't scoring goals he isn't a factor in other areas. I'd rather keep him because where else are you going to get a guaranteed 30+ goal scorer for 5 mil? Did score the 2 big tying goals this series, but they went for naught. I'd say after Perry and Koivu was the most disappointing player against Detroit.

Getzlaf- Was playing on a severely sprained ankle since mid April. Couple that with Ryan/Perry not getting anything going and Getz gets a pass from me, even though IMO he was still our best player. Definitely could have been better in the dot though. He was like 35% which ain't gonna cut it.:x

Etem/Palmieri/Bonino- The young kids absolutely had their coming out party in this series. I'd say after Getzlaf and Fowler Etem was easily our best player. Really bodes well for the future and has me extremely excited.

I really feel like the turning point though, was the Abdelkader hit on Lydman. That knocked out Toni with a concussion, and he and Fowler had done a pretty good job matched up against Dats-Zetts, up til then. After that, Boudreau went with Beauchemin-Souray against them, which was a huge mistake, that got exploited over and over again. Even with all the things that went wrong, we were still one bounce, in any of the OT games, from a series win.

I never really felt we were a true Cup contender this year, anyways. I'd liken this season to '06 and next year to '07. Our youth was able to get vital playoff experience, and our team, as a whole, gained a lot of confidence and know that they can be a very good team.

Datsyuk, Toews, and Bergeron are the Selke finalists
If anyone thinks Datsyuk isn't the clear winner of that award they're are delusional.

Deadset there is no mystery how much I loathe every Northern California sports team with a passion.

Jonathan Quick, all I can say is:

700

Give Quick a 2 goal lead and he'll be the closer.

SJ played a perfect opening 10 and truly deserved a goal.

Sharks are in big trouble if they can't break Quick and drop G2.

I'll go 2-1 Chicago tonight. Fear Hawks may look sluggish, but Sharp and Toews get it done.

Dats bags Detroit's lone goal.

Ugh. I can just see the Finals being Rangers-Kings. 1-0 EVERY DAMN GAME.:x :lol

Being in NYC, I wouldn't have a problem with that. I'd be out every game night and my friends are all Rangers fans :lol I love seeing them stressed at the edge of their seat.

should the rangers really be dogs in this series? check this out:

They scored less than two goals a game before getting 5 in Game 7. As backwards as it sounds, they need their overhyped star players to start supporting their supporting cast for them to be where they want/need to be. Callahan, Nash and Richards can't have 3 goals together in 7 games again.

Cally is never gonna be a big goal scorer and i don't think fans expect him to be. Richards and Nash def need to score. Nash was taken out of last series but so was Ovi. I'm assuming Boston will try and have 2 guys on Nash.

I heard from a little birdie that Richards is very out of shape and lazy with his training. Apparently He's just a laid back guy and doesn't take conditioning seriously.

Rangers need to just shoot. They always get cute with the puck instead

What the hell did I do to you?

I've never had a deep problem with the Rangers, I don't hate em like I hate Philly.

Dub - I look at Callahan like I did Drury back in his Colorado days. He's not gonna lead the league in goals during the postseason but he's the type that should/will score plenty of big goals. Or at least be involved in them. Maybe I'm overrating him.

I said this a while back about Richards but he's just seems like the type of player at this stage where a long run the year before will kill him the next season.
