fair enough. id rather draft a C than overpay for one in the FA market (not that richards would want to come here

) to this day, i wish tambo acquired picks 1 AND 2 last year. wishful thinking though

anyways,

The New York Times is reporting the New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers will play at Citizens Bank Park in the next Winter Classic game.

The annual outdoor game will be played on Jan. 2, because Sunday, Jan. 1 is scheduled to be the final week of the NFL's regular season.

Citizens Bank Park is the home of the Philadelphia Phillies.

The newspaper reported the details of the game on its website on Tuesday.

there will be no outdoor game in canada next year too

I see Oilers drafting RNH, but I like Larsson way more than him. Maybe Oilers can drafted a G too?

I think a real 1D is harder to come by, but i'd rather take a 1C.and yeah i know that doesnt make sense.

We need to find some way to re-sign Bieksa. He has stated he will sign for less to stay with Vancity.
Also, someone needs to teach Daniel and Hendrik what "back-checking" is.

Minor tweaks. Hopefully we can build on the crushing heartbreak and deep depression that has set in in my heart.

Am I the only one that says 1D?

All those years watching the trap has swayed my mind

I think a 1D is more harder to come by nowadays. It's so hard to develop D-Men because of all the responsibilities the D-Man needs to do for his team to succeed.

People want to score goals. Not bring the puck up, pass it, get laid out and then backskate once the opposing side gets the puck. People could care less about the primary assist. Let alone, the secondary but defense has a place in my heart.

Being an elite defenseman isn't all about skill set. It's an art to play D.

"People" being the fans or the players? Either way, I definitely think a #1 Defenseman is harder to come by than a top line center. However, I think each position is tough to master in its own way.......I don't believe too much in saying ___ position is harder to play than ____ position. I started out as a D then moved to forward and whenever I go back to D I always find it a bit easier for some reason.

Speaking of Centers, hope the Leafs can land somebody that will compliment Phil, cause Bozak is complete garbage and is a 3rd line Center on any other team

People = fans.

To me, there's nothing better then that first tape-to-tape breakout pass. Then, the sound of puck hitting the blade is music to my ears.

Carolina Hurricanes forward Jeff Skinner was awarded the Calder Memorial Trophy as the League's top rookie on Wednesday night.

if Homer really gives into Bryz demands and signs hims for 7 mill...i'm really going to trade my Flyers fan card until he's fired.

he's not even one the top 3 goalies in the league yet he would make more money than Lundqvist, Miller, Luongo

i'm actually afraid to watch the draft

Congrats to Perry. He carried our team along with Selanne to the playoffs with some HUGE shots, its a shame that Hiller wasn't healthy.

the only big surprise for me was skinner...not complaining tho

Timmy's last three seasons.. my god. 2 Vezinas, a Cup, silver medal, jennings trophy, save pct record, lead the league in both major categories twice.. not bad.

congrats to Perry, totally deserved. would have been pretty sick though to have brothers win it back to back. #hateaside

lids comes through again. one shot to tie bobby orr for the record next year.

just read bergy came in fourth in the selke voting and got three first place votes. finally a little respect.

PHI for the home opener...not bad. would have preferred to raise the banner in MTL or TB's faces...but PHI will be good

http://espn.go.com/nhl/player/_/id/876/ryan-smythRyan Smyth wearing a Calgary Flames uniform?

Two sources told ESPN.com on Thursday that the Flames have entered the picture in the Smyth trade talks, joining the provincial rival Edmonton Oilers as potential destinations for the veteran winger.

Smyth, 35, has one year left on his deal, which pays him $4.5 million, although the cap hit is $6.25 million. He also has a no-movement clause, which helps him control his trade destination.

Perhaps getting impatient with the Oilers, one source said it's the Kings that approached the Flames and Calgary indicated it might have interest depending on other factors.

But for the cap-challenged Flames to even get serious on this front, they'd need to move money first. One player that is being shopped, we're told, is veteran defenseman Robyn Regehr. The 31-year-old has two more years left on his deal at a $4 million cap hit. More importantly, he has a no-movement clause, which means he isn't going anywhere unless he approves the destination.
