damn, this post makes me ashamed to be in da same culture as alot of these folks. :smh:

You aren't though. You're probably about 30, right? And, you grew up in Washington Heights and probably started developing your love for kicks and hip hop during the Dinkins administration, right? When you were these kids' ages, the kids in these pics would would be nothing but food, plain and simple, right? Could one of those kids walk a lap around your block with a Steep Tech on in 1995 and not have the homies fighting over who gets to snatch it from him?

Just because a dude likes kicks and I like kicks. Or, dude likes rap and I like rap. Or, dude claims to like Polo or whatever. That doesn't mean he and I share anything or inhabit the same culture. I assume that I have almost nothing in common with the stereotypical "sneakerhead" 25 or under. Being part of a culture is more than wearing a uniform. To share the same culture, we have to appreciate things for the same reasons, follow the same rules, etc.

If you posed for a pic with the kids in this thread, it would be obvious who is out of place. And, if one them infiltrated a convo with you and your peoples, you'd hit him with the Big Pun, go thaaaat way, real quick.

no such thing as "sneaker culture" they're just fashion accessories/an industry,
by you're logic everyone is in the same culture as "foodie" bloggers

What I will say about the recent pictures, specifically the suburban kids is that the "culture" has been co-opted and hijacked.
