Charles Mingus - So Long Eric, Orange Was The Color Of Her Dress, Then Blue Silk, & Parkeriana (and Take The A Train) [Norway 4/12/64]

I'm astounded by the sound & video quality of this vid from youtube. Can you tell I've been in a Mingus mood lately? Common's voice always kinda reminded me of Mingus' (the timbre of it)...

^ Yeah, been noticing more and more of these hi-quality vids on youtube.  Good to know that there still people out there who will take the time to rescan-digitize old archive film.

I love strings with jazz...

Something a little different. Vocal improvisation, I've been watching Bobby McFerrin videos all morning

Julie London...

Keeping with the trend...

Gotta post this...

and

My mom loves Nancy Wilson, mainly this album and song. Thanks for reminding me about her, going to have to upload it to my computer.

Eddie Palmieri - Vamanos Pa'l Monte

Some Afro-Cuban jazz vibes up in this piece....Mmmm, Cuban food would be so lovely...

Diana Krall - Besame Mucho

Krall's version with strings courtesy of Tommy LiPuma...

Kenny Dorham - Afrodisia & Sao Paulo

Love the cover of Dorham's Una Mas album. So indicative of the Blue Note record covers...

Tito Puente - Oye Como Va & Ran Kan Kan

The original version...2 iconic songs. RIP Mr. Puente.

Gonzalo Rubalcaba & Mariza - El Hombre Que Yo Ame (The Man I Love)

Portuguese singer Mariza with Cuban pianist Rubalcaba...Beautiful song...

Mariza - Rosa Branca

Some of you have guessed that I listen to all types of music from around the world. In doses, I like Fado from Portugal. Mariza is one of the genre's biggest artists...

Wynton Kelly - On Green Dolphin Street, Softly As In A Morning Sunrise, & Autumn Leaves

Anyone down with Wynton Kelly? Some of you have said you like Piano players...This guy gets overlooked...

Ron Carter - Besame Mucho

Another version of this song...My iPhone just played this while in shuffle mode...

Charles Mingus - The Shoes of the Fisherman's Wife Are Some Jive A** Slippers

Mingus might be the coolest dude in jazz ever...

I dig Wynton Kelly...

Have a few of his albums as well.

More jazz with strings...

Kenny Dorham - Lotus Blossom

Sonny Rollins - Asiatic Raes

Sonny used Kenny's melody for his song kinda like Cube jackin' beats...

Preservation Hall Jazz Band - Tailgate Ramble

Damn, I could go for a bowl of gumbo, some red beans & rice, & some chicken from Willie Mae's...
