Official Jazz thread

I don't think you can go wrong with a direct drive or belt drive although I think serious audiophiles tend to go with belt drive turntables.
Are BD actually better for audiophiles?  More stability?

I know that DJ's like DD for the torque and responsiveness, but not sure about pure playback.

Anyway...

I listen to a lot of John Pizzarelli... here's his pops...

Abbey Lincoln - The Music Is The Magic

Love this song.

Marc Cary - Waltz Betty Waltz & Taiwa

Don't sleep on this brother's new release, Four Directions. The track at the bottom is an older one...

Art Blakey - Alamode

Been listening to a lot of Blakey & Mingus lately... This songs just swings.

does anyone watch the tv series louie? theres a song in episode 10 when he's at the grocery store that i cant seem to find, song is fire, but soundhound wont work. halp

I hate miserable comics like louis ck so no I don't watch the show. If you post a clip of said scene, maybe we can help...

man, there are gems in every episode almost, this was the closest thing i've found.

The sax player is Maxfield Gast... From what I understand, he records as part of a group with pianist Adam Platt... It's apparently all recorded for Louie's show... I don't think it's available for sale (that I know of)....

Edit - Here's the link to the production group that does music for the show. Maybe you can contact them to see if it's available for purchase.

Looks like Don Cheadle is trying to get his Miles Davis pic funded via Indiegogo... Can't believe he can't get funding for this...

Stan Getz & Joao Gilberto - Meditation (live at Carnegie Hall 1964) & Astrud Gilberto version

Astrud might be the only singer that can sing slightly off key (flat) & make it sound incredibly sexy...
