OFFICIAL JEWELRY THREAD - 56k

for whoever asked me bout a rolex in LA, downtown is your best bet.
a few spots on hill will give you the best deal used and new.

as for a chain, tell me what you're lookin for.

taco,
a ct. each ear? invisibly set? remember a carat will look bigger then just a carat solitaire
which is good.
but the price will be even better.
as for music, i'm out that business homes. the music industry is bankrupt.

Hey KTOWN do you know what stores on hill are legit because ive heard that 20% of the rolexs from the jewelry district are fakes. And for the chain, im just looking for a basic platinum or white gold one with some dog tags. And another platinum necklace with a cross on it with no ice on it. You know how much that would run for? Let me know if you know some spots where i can get a good deal. Thanks a lot i really appreciate it.

I'm pretty much almost clueless on jewlery, I'm looking for a nice white gold/platinum chain, no pendants for now, just something nice, with maybe a little diamond/moss on it. Anyone recommend a nice piece for something like that? & the price range I'd be looking at? Any help would be cool, I don't wanna walk in looking too lost.

markymark,
masterpiece jewelry in downtown LA is 100% legit.
they are located in the diamond district off hill.

as far as chains go. do not go platinum, it's double the cost basically and real heavy on your neck. platinum is great for wedding bands and engagement rings.

a nice long white gold chain 14k could run from $1,200 to $2,000 depending on the design, width, weight and obviously exactly how long you want it.

Thanks alot Ktown. You were very helpful and knowledgable. Im gonna go check out that store. How come 14K white gold is so expensive? Is that for just the chain? I wanna get a nice chain with something like this www.chrisaire.com/store/np00408.htm
Any suggestions on where i can go for that? Downtown too? Im looking for a good deal.

many of the jewelry stores in downtown LA's district are legit.....of course there are shady ones that will try and rip guys that come in w/out knowing a least a little something about what they're buying.

best thing is to do a little research before you go in.....at least know ballpark prices of the particular make+model you're interested in, and helps to know some of the basic signs of fakes. couple of my dogs are bigger timepiece dudes and know a lot more about the telltale signs of fake Rolexes and such, but i'm sure there's some information on the net that you can search for.

mentioned this before, but when buying anything, if a deal sounds too good to be true, it usually is.....just use your common sense. don't expect to get a real Rolex or any other legit high quality/$$$$ item from some dealer pimpin 10k nugget + fools gold jewelry like casino dealers wear.

btw, always insist on getting the original papers w/your Rolex. there are tons of fakes out there and, nowadays, some of the more expensive/quality ones can't really be detected by most casual observers or even a semi-experienced watch fan unless you check out the movement/guts.

again, go in armed w/a least a little knowledge/research or bring someone w/you that knows the deal, and you'll get a fair deal.

Any1 have pics of Pharrell's skateboard chain? It's the one he was wearing during the release of Fly or Die.

I cant decide if I want cuban link or diamond cut cuban for a white gold chain. Cuban link sounds less expensive.

btw, for you Cali+Vegas heads (esp ones in the LA area), if you're in the market for just about any high quality timepiece, i tipped some dudes off to me+my homeys' spot. they have several locations in the areas i mentioned.

just peep the Invicta Iced out watch thread a couple or few pages back (too busy to look for it)

btw, they don't sell Invictas....much better timepieces+jewelry...Patek Philippe, Breitling, Cartier, Tag Heuer, Omega, Philippe Charriol, Chopard, IWC, Audemars Piguet, and a bunch more.........yes, AUTHORIZED DEALER......none of that bootleg BS

Thanks Cl, that CHong hing spot you named in SGV is where i grew up. How are the prices compared to the Jewelry District?

I saw your post on the plasmas. I just got a 42 in panasonic. Its the newest model out. Pretty Good so far. I upgraded from the Top of the line 37in. Not really useful to get the top of the line. Cable card and doesnt work to well anyways. Thats the big difference on the different models.

first thing imma do is get some of them "yayo" earrings, since getting something like :

Tony-Yayo-.jpg

is just a bunch of brilliant cut stones no bigger then 0.03-0.06 each stone it wouldn;t cost no more then a grand to get da exact effect wit moissanite stones...and yo know once there set then its gonna be crack.

and as far as chains go..NUFFIN is better then a solid round cuban link chain...because of da box 3 piece clasp closure, and solid nugget links its virtually da strongest link available.....just in case ya live in grimey hoods you can't yank and break it off your neck. dem tennis chains while very nice and flash are EASY to get yanked off....something to think about.... :nerd:

^^^no prob, man. The SGV was my spot too when I lived down there....i stayed in Pasadena, but I rolled through Alhambra, San Gabriel, etc almost daily to grub w/my homeys.....miss those Asian cafes.....can't beat em for late night eats. some of my dogs still live out there, so I still hit that area whenever I head down there (not much lately tho)

anyways, CH Jewelers moves A LOT of watches. Selection-wise it's like the Asian version of Tourneau (in upscale malls+shopping districts like South Coast Plaza....except Tourneau mostly deals in watches so they have a little bit more...but they don't deal as much...different clientele though) Like I mentioned in the other thread, they take care of the non-Asian peeps I've sent there too.......they don't care if you're white, black, yellow, or brown......as long as you bring GREEN!!
wink.gif
(they take plastic too but $$$$ talks)

as for pricing, I mentioned all that and more in the other thread too, but in terms of them vs the downtown LA jewelry district, they're just as good if not better than most of them (in me+my homeys' experiences anyways....but we've given+sent them a lot of biz) Of course you need to know how to deal w/them...they won't just automatically give you 30% or whatever off the bat, but if you go in there and let em know you're a serious buyer, they'll take care of you.

i guess i'll look for that thread w/my reply later and bring it over here, so I don't have to keep typing stuff over (not directed at you, I've got a few IM's and emails about this too....don't know how you guys tracked me down....i never usually turn on my IM....lol)

and good looking out on the plasma 411. I'll check your set out.

For everyone that want to get the small stones and flood a piece or earings, the smalled you can get in a moss is .03 cts/2mm and they go for around $6.66 per stone a 2pt diamond is 6.50 per stone and in the diamond district downtown if you are going to buy 2 carats or more they'll work with you if you're buying diamonds. Not very many places in the diamond district sell moss's, and if they do they won't really work on the price with you unless you are getting stones that are 3 carats or larger. I just picked up 3 carats of diamonds that are 2pts each stone for $300. I just thought I would shed a little light. Also, KTOWN what's your boys name that can make the molds/pendants. I'm from LA so could you PM me the info about him, I would be interested in getting a pendant made. Thanks

EDIT: Adding CHJ's actual addy+contact info for those of you not familar w/the area.

Quote:
oh, and here's the actual addy+contact info for the San Gabriel Chong Hing store (again, they have a bunch of locations in the LA area+one in NorCal + the Vegas one, but this is the biggest store and one me+my homeys use+send everyone)..........

Chong Hing Goldsmith Corp Ltd
140 W Valley Blvd # 119
San Gabriel, CA
(626) 280-9195

it's off the 10 freeway...take the Del Mar Blvd exit & the plaza it's in takes up the whole corner/couple blocks of Valley+Del Mar.........do a Mapquest or something for those of you not familiar w/the Eastside LA/SGV

here's my watch+jewelry hook-up that some peeps have been contacting me about.....please read the ENTIRE thing before hitting me up w/further ???'s. a lot of the stuff I'm being asked is in there already.

Quote:
--Chong Hing Jewelers
--AUTHORIZED dealer for Audemars Piguet, Breitling, Omega, Chopard, Patek Philippe, Tag Heuer, Philippe Charriol, Vacheron Constantin, IWC, Cartier, and many more watches and jewelry (ice+platinum+gold+jade+etc).....have fashion watches like Movado & Gucci too
--give hook-up pricing of 30% off on average....sometimes more+NO TAX, esp if paying $$$
wink.gif
Discount varies depending on popularity of make+model
--owned by Asians (Chinese) but all locations have staff that are fluent in English...helps to deal if you speak or bring a Chinese speaking peep though. but I've sent non-Asians there + they got hooked up too.
--spots in downtown/chinatown LA, San Gabriel--best one (corner of Valley+Del Mar in the huge strip mall w/Ranch 99...CHJ is on the street level....look for some sort of baller car in a spot next to the main building...the owner's kid not really a kid (in his mid-late 30's) always parks in front
--also locations in Milipitas (NorCal) & Vega$....they have another store calle CH Premier Jewelers in Valley Fair San Jo, but you can't deal as much at that spot....same stuff though.

Over the years, me+my dogs (mostly them, I only have one decent watch cuz I'm hard on my things and not balling either) have bought literally 30+ watches and other assorted goodies for our ladies+fam from Chong Hing, and we've sent a bunch more friends+fam their way. I don't know the owners or staff personally, but they always take care of us and aren't shady like most jewelers, which is why we keep sending them business. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.

and, in case it wasn't clear, I+my homeys have compared their prices to the downtown LA jewelry district dealers (I+few of my dogs used to live downtown....in the good part) I'm not going to say that CHJ will ALWAYS have the absolute lowest price, but they've been good to us so far. the jewelry biz is very competitive nowadays, and I'm sure you can get good deals elsewhere too, incl the jewelry district. I'm just happy w/my spot and sending more peeps their way because i've dealt w/them personally and been nothing but pleased

finally, to answer another question...........you don't need to deal w/my contacts directly. CHJ will take care of anyone that walks through the door as long as you're give them the impression that you're a serious buyer and not some lame messing around+wasting their time (i.e. don't ask for a Patek Philippe and say, "I'll give you 1000 bucks cash right now!!") don't be intimidated tho......i've sent all kinds of people in there.....teens, adults, Asian, non-Asian, etc. I'd say over 80% ended up buying their stuff there....the others either ended up getting nothing at all (cheaper watches) or going w/other stuff.....like Rolex, which CHJ doesn't carry.

that's enough.......those dudes should really have me on the payroll by by now...lol (again, no, i don't know the owners or staff personally)

1. NOTHING OR NO ONE CAN TOUCH CHONG HING.
2. NO PLACE EVEN IN BEVERLY HILLS ON RODEO DRIVE CAN TOUCH CHONG HING.

there are stores in NYC and Las Vegas that hate Chong Hing, they have been @#%$ on fine watch stores all over the country. everytime I hit up 99ranch or the shanghai dumpling spots there, I have to make a stop @ chong hing.
its where I copped my Panarai for 30% retail, it's where I got my submariner for 30% retail and it's where I got one of my girls cartiers.

no one can touch them.
they literally have stores pissed off about them. Rolex still won't pull their account.
i'd say about 95% of retail watch places that carry Rolex will manuver 0% of the retail price, they just won't do it. even to this day chong hing will at least give you a little break. other stores like tourneau, etc, won't even have the conversation with you about it. the price is what it is.

but Chong Hing has sold me watches that to this day I can sell for the same price I bought them for. real talk.

and NinjaHood, earrings son?
get you a tony yayo pendant to go with your chain thun thun.
with mossanites that'll prolly only run you $5,000 instead of $50,000.

^^^what??? they have Rolex now??? dang, i haven't been back in any of their shops for a long minute, but my dogs have and never told me they have em now.

which ones?? thanks for the lowdown, i need to update my rec's.

btw, you probably already know, but if not, check out that dumpling spot in Arcadia on Baldwin Ave. (in mini-mall next to the Mobil station) it's hyped up, but they do have some of the best dumplings around.

green village in San Gabriel got the best I've tasted.

but yeh, Chong Hing used to have Rolex, I dont know if they do, but those cats can get anything.

make sure you got legit paper work. there are some good fakes with good weight, but if you look close up next to a real one, it's not that hard to tell.

1 thing. NO ROLEX HAS A GHOST OR CLEAR BACK.
there are tons of fake daytonas that weigh around the same, I can't remember where the obvious dead giveaway is, but honestly I guarantee Google is your friend on this one.
