**Official Kendrick Lamar Thread 4th Studio Album ''DAMN.''Out Now**

Numbers dont matter to a lot of people but to flat out dismiss numbers as if they don't represent anything is stupid

Ok... They represent how popular somebody is, not much else.

Numbers matter only when it's convenient for them to matter to people

If Kendrick snatches up a Grammy off of this (which this album has the power to get there, notice I didn't say quality, cause they put some questionable canidates in those award categories), this album has the power to win a Grammy, dudes gonna be in here talking about "finally the grammys get it right" "grammy winner :smokin"

Damn. You really are more mad than happy that a black man that grew up from the hood be breaking records in the music industry now. :lol

Sit down. Be humble.

When you run out of rebuttals, play the race card :smokin
Lol you obviously don't see my point. You sound like you aren't happy with his success. Why you wanna bring a brother down? Just cuz he got good news now?

I'm not bringing him down, I never dismissed numbers, y'all did that, doing numbers is obviously a sign of success...so idk what this notion of "numbers dont matter" comes from
Who the hell is y'all?
I was the only one that posted numbers.
I don't see anyone else posting records and numbers and other ish.
It's just cool to see a dude be killin it on the mainstream now.

You're right I agree with you, it's good he's doing numbers

It's pretty obvious that numbers do matter, regardless of what fans say, or else we wouldn't get Taylor Swift collabs or tweets about LA only buying 35K copies

Numbers matter, they always have

and to add to that Maximus Meridius Maximus Meridius brought up a good point that numbers mainly represent popularity

But like I've also been saying for months, everyones measuring stick of how they rank the top artists in the game is different. Some look at sales, others at longevity, lyrics, etc.

Someone on here can and will make the argument to you as to how Future is on top of the rap game

So you really gonna be upset with the possible situation of Kendrick winning a Grammy just because his fans are happy if he were to win? :rollin

What? :lol re-read what I said. Accolades have always mattered but you have people that flat out dismiss it if it's not their favorite artist that are getting these accolades

(Numbers, awards, critics etc)

Who the hell is "you people"?
@ them specifically
Because all you really saying right now is "you Kendrick fans don't have the right to be happy about his success"
Like what???

Bro, maybe we just think the person winning the Grammy isn't worthy enough of it, what's wrong with that? Of course people are gonna be happy if their favorite artist wins something. What is even your argument?

Not really, again, re-read...let me ask you, do sales/streams matter to you?

The notion that grammys/accolades don't count if it's not your favorite artist winning it

I have read your posts, you sound more salty than contrarian still.
Do sales and awards matter to me? Well if Kendrick is smashing relevant records and getting awards from the Grammys imma be happy for the dude.

Anyway I'm waiting for you to @ the people that said sales don't matter and later post numbers of their favorite artist.

My 2 cents, sales matter more than streams. Sales are actually an indicator of passion.

Streams can be so passive.

Universal and Spotify just did a deal together. So that should tell you something about these bloated streaming #'s.

Current Convo lame and been done to death. Y'all took the bait... Smh

I'm fully satisfied with this lp, but.... If I get another one tomorrow, in another
Week or what ever same quality (which I we all come to expect with kdot)
My freaking head gon explode. Only think that would do irreparable damage
To my brain cells is it containing a Drake diss (only cus the heart4 illuded to as much)

The notion that grammys/accolades don't count if it's not your favorite artist winning it

Me personally, I don't take anything an artist has won away from them. I also don't feel like awards and record sales are true indicators of how great they are as an artist, that's why they "don't count." When you evaluate somebody by the quality of their music how is it fair to throw in Spotify streams to justify the argument?

Thats the thing, everyone has their own measuring stick as to what makes this artist more succesful/better than the next artist

A lot of it falls into popular opinion, people just seem to run with that

I just been saying don't be ignorant nor naive to the fact that numbers do matter, especially when the artists themselves are tweeting/pushing their brand to reach those accolades

and no, numbers aren't THE measuring stick of who's the best artist. It just all depends on who you ask, none of the categories can be dismissed tho.

Numbers without quality of music means little to nothing. As long as the music is authentic, soulful, and true to yourself people will **** with it. You really came here with the Aubrey goggles because his last few projects have torn up the charts but even by his own words have alluded to be lackluster. You ain't slick.

Not really :lol again y'all circling back to drake

I been saying the numbers will be a wash in a few months if not in a year or two from now

Just because the numbers don't matter to you doesnt mean they don't matter at all. Artists are checking for those numbers daily if not weekly, don't be naive to that

and fwiw, I always said 50 Cent was dumb as hell for basing his career/success solely on sales, he sabotaged his own career, you can check that thread

and for Drake, NWTS is STILL my favorite album from him...idc about the Views/Hotline Bling finesse job, I'm throwing NWTS up there as his best album
