**Official Kendrick Lamar Thread 4th Studio Album ''DAMN.''Out Now**

His first 3 albums over 90 on metacritic (91, 96 and currently 98) insane [emoji]128558[/emoji][emoji]128558[/emoji][emoji]128558[/emoji][emoji]128558[/emoji][emoji]128558[/emoji]

Kendrick will do 500K first week at least. The word of mouth is so crazy right now on social media.

Let's be real, of course numbers matter. Artist 100000000% care about their numbers. They didn't work hard for no one to listen [emoji]128514[/emoji]

Of course artists are going to check for numbers it's part of how they eat. But to extrapolate it to what you're doing is funny style, especially with goes on in the Drake thread. I **** with both artists (not as much as I used to with Drake since he went full pop) but the comparisons need to cease between these two.

Got through the whole album. I'm not going to give a rating, but I will say that it's a straight up masterpiece. I don't know how many flawless albums there are in hip-hop, but this has to be right up there, or near it.

As a big U2 fan, I wasn't sure how they were going to be used when I saw they were featured on DAMN. To say I was blown away by XXX. is a complete understatement. I was not expecting the sounds that I heard. Outside of The Recipe, XXX. is my 2nd favorite Kendrick track of all-time.

Homie straight up did his thing. Hearing Kid Capri took me way back. Forgot where I was for a second when I'd hear his voice...forgetting where I was in the sense that I was thinking I'd be rocking out to an old-school East Coast/NY jam. Loved having him featured.

It goes on and on. You guys have covered just about everything. Now, it's just time to sit back and wait to see if any more material is going to drop within the next 11 hours or so.

What a treat. This guy IS hip-hop royalty. Top-5 all-time for sure.

You're right...i don't remember if it was this thread or drake thread I been saying theres no comparison between the two, that doesnt mean one is better than the other, because arguments can be made on both sides, and it'll never end

Kendrick is great at what Kendrick does
Drake is great at what Drake does

They don't do the same thing nor make the same music to even be compared

How he go full pop when half of views was rap? And before that WATTBA was rap, and before that If you're reading this was full rap basically? Hell almost half of More Life is full fledged rap.

The narrative that Drake is a full fledged pop act because he makes some songs that do really well in that arena is weird

it's like because he makes one dance and passionfruit he's a pop act.

I forgot the song title, but when Kendrick was talking about making bread but still being scared as hell to spend it cause it could all go back to being worse than it was before. That was my favorite moment on this thing.

That was my favorite song. And the Duckworth joint. There's not a lot I can say that I dislike about this thing.

"Got the Billboard melodies, rap is something I do on the side."

He literally says this himself. But I guess we're still supposed to act like he didn't mean anything by it :lol

This was awesome man.

Crazy to see his evolution and kinda grow up together with him. Same age and everything now, only seen him once in person at SunFest in the Summer of 2013 and I was in awe. Genuinely enjoy the success he's had and I have no doubt he'll be undisputed top 3 by the time he's done.

Don't be dense. He's obviously gloating and being facetious about how great he at making pop records. I could pull up songs where he's talking about being the best rapper out and how he's a rapper to the core, would you agree to that too?

True story

I saw Kendrick Live at the El Rey back during the OD days and was standing side by side with Demar DeRozan. Only other time I seen him live was when he opened for Ye I think.

To go from that to being a superstar is wild. I genuinely didn't think that was in the cards for him. I remember when guys like Skeme, DOM K, Nipsey, all were ahead of him with this LA **** then section 80. hit and nothing was the same after that. Like I remember when DOM K was WAYYYY more popular than him out here. I remember when YG had way more juice than Kendrick out here. Crazy man

K. Dot to King Kendrick. What a time man.

Numbers matter only when it's convenient for them to matter to people

If Kendrick snatches up a Grammy off of this (which this album has the power to get there, notice I didn't say quality, cause they put some questionable canidates in those award categories), this album has the power to win a Grammy, dudes gonna be in here talking about "finally the grammys get it right" "grammy winner :smokin"

Kendrick has already won like 7 grammys. You talking about album of the year? Obviously he should've won that for tpab...

Views is a full blown pop album. Even the songs he's rapping on are catchy radio type songs. A large percentage of that album is pop/r&b/dancehall. And More Life had the same vibe it just wasn't as boring. He says he went pop, his biggest fans say he's pop. Add that to the fact that he has a team of writers, there's very little "Hip Hop" to Drake at this point. Only a few of ya'll still wanna hold on to him being this hip hop dude.

Kendrick Lamar will become the first artist other than Drake to collect more than 200 million streams for an album in a single week. Tracks from DAMN. (TDE/Interscope) have already been streamed more than 50 million times.

Kendrick Lamar (TDE/Interscope) 460-485k SPS, 275-300k album
