Looks like that same cushioning setup as the 10's if so I'm out again. More power to the people who can play in lunar and not wake up with sore joints the next morning. For me Lunarlon = Lunardone. Which is why I never understood why Kobe didn't go to zoom to absorb some of the pounding as each new model came out. Like somebody said earlier give me that bounceback of zoom instead of the bottoming out of lunar. But will wait for official specs of the cushioning before I'm officially out.

I'm really impressed and satisfied with the design. I didn't think they could have done much more for Kobe's line that hadn't been done by the 4 then the 6 and then the 9. I really like the 8 so seeing these as like a mix of the 8 and 9 design wise was great. I'm really interested to see how the high will play out. I hope they do a 5 rings version of these too.

Nike could have really rereleased the 8s in the same order as before and I'd be happy. 11s look good so far. I'm just burnt out on 4 versions per sig every year.

The overall look of his low-tops continue to be strikingly similar.

extremely appropriate...just like zoolanders looks are pretty much the same.

Since the Black/White Jordan 1s are more than likely NOT releasing here in the Philippines, I was considering grabbing a pair of the Aqua 8s. But with all the recent events, I'm really thinking about holding off for the Kobe 11s instead.

I said before I'd grab a pair as a tribute to Kobe, and that still hasn't changed.

I'm wondering if/when Nike will now start retroing Kobe's.

EDIT: kind of also hoping that Jordan Brand releases some of the PE Jordan's that Kobe wore in the past. I'd definitely try for those Lakers 8s if they were to come out (Last game Kobe played against MJ, Kobe wore the 8s; Kobe's first number was #8...)

The lack of patience here is comical, guess that's what the Internet is for. Judgement being passed on a shoe from "leaked" pics of what appears to be a GS version of an unconfirmed pair...smh. Man please!

Kobe goes through so many shoes that bottoming out doesn't even matter to him.

It takes a month I would say of hard basketball.. He has new PEs every month to wear and multiples of them. Just cause we see him wear a specific colour way more than once doesn't mean it's the same exact shoe each time

For a shoe this significant I'm hoping this isn't it. Besides the stitches no one would here would see these in stores and not think they were the Mentality. I don't want them to just add more but there have to be significant design cues that are especially performance driven. Let's hope they're able to do that. Something should make this shoe iconic for its significance.

I'm 32. I've come to accept that I am no longer in Nike's demographic when it comes to their design and "stories" of their shoes.

i miss the days when stories came in trilogies: home, away, and playoff
same, i just want some home, away, and playoff CWs. the blk/white/yellow was a great combo for the Kobe line and it's dead now.

Im just confused about 2 things...

1. Didnt the chinese info sheet earlier in the thread say it was gonna have a 180 visible zoom bag?

2. Where's the heel counter? or mid foot shank? or anything that will help support and lockdown?

I do realize this is a gs model tho, which is why im not panicking, but it is a head scratcher.
nah, the 180 zoom was for the kobe 10, not these. the Chinese info sheet just said something like "impact protection designed for exceptional pedaling" ...which i assume they are talking about foot work or something. the sentence was written in Cantonese, so i don't exactly know what the hell they meant. info did say the upper is some kind of mesh.

heel counter is inside the heel. as far as mid foot shank; no idea. probably will be embedded or the sides are designed to be stable enough like the 9 and 10 that you don't need one.

I was never implying that Kobe wears shoes that bottom out, he is too important of an investment for that. We all realize that he wears something different every game that they will never have a chance to bottom out. In the grand scheme of things a new pair for him every game is like giving a whale a tic tac when you consider all the money he brings in. The bottoming out comment was for regular people like us who buy them with our hard earned money and like you said after a month of hard basketball the shoe is more or less done.

I honestly tried to imagine that

EDIT: speaking of which...

Gotchu that makes sense lol thx for the info! Im guessing everything will be hidden inside like the heel counter on the kd8...btw has anybody played in kd8s here? How does flyweave feel compared to flyknit or em?

You know what would be crazy. Since it looks to be already the same setup as the 10, add top loaded zoom to the forefoot. Since it's not caged I'm sure it'll feel a ton better but the skepticism is still there

Crazy how we got hyped or at least interested when we learned Tinker was designing these. Then we get a rehashed 8x9x10. I know those are GS but they look like crap and remond me of the KD trey5 or whatever that shoe is called.

Once they put some flyknit uppers on 'em then they'd look 100x better.

I like the idea of using flyweave over flyknit. Flyknit isn't doing much for me performance wise. I like the em versions of the IX and X over the elites to play in.

Agreed here.  To me, Flyweave is what 'basketball flyknit' should have been.  I don't mind the glue-backed flyknit in the IXs and Xs, but the performance woven flightweave does the job while being lighter and arguably a little more natural feeling and comfortable.

For reference to those wondering -- the main shoes its currently used in are the Jordan XX9, KD 8, CJ 3 trainer, and Tiger's newest golf spike
