This better not be a 200 dollar shoe. More like $120. If Kobes last playing shoe, that sucks. Im sure they will continue the Kobes evem when he retires

You guys realize this is not only the first picture but is the GS model right? I'm sure, if this is the 11, the Men's version will be much nicer

Was there actually confirmation that Tinker was involved in the design process?

Or were sneaker sites just posting their usual rumored "reports" without legitimate sources?

They need to stop with the 4 stitch marks on the heel tab. I get why they did it last year but this year again?!?? Cmon Nike.

Agreed. Nike needs to get over the past and look towards the future.
somehow i doubt they will ever get past that because that was a significant injury and it sort of reminds people he stood there in pain and took those free throws.

They def have that "basic" swag of the x but a lil more stylish. I actually like these on first look, em x still haven't grown on me

Is this also one of the few times a shoe debuts and it's not spy cam pics?

I like the simplicity for sure. So hard to tell this early and if these are a GS I bet the mens pair will look better. Especially with a full MC flyknit.

Agree with the above.  I love the simplicity of this shoe too.  I still believe these are EMs, and a GS version at that.  But...I like the simple look of these compared to other models that are 'trying too hard' and using straps, hyperposite...etc.  To many shoes today are too hard for grown men 18 and over to wear.  Too much 'my little pony/buster brown looking' gimmick shoes.   The guy who's signature shoe this is in his late 30s.  I even wish they would get rid of the corny stories that they feel the need to associate with each release.

If you have to try really hard to come up with something new, or to be unique...it's usually a much better idea to get back to clean, simple basics.  Simple aesthetics, classic, clean > gimmicks.

I'm 32. I've come to accept that I am no longer in Nike's demographic when it comes to their design and "stories" of their shoes.

i miss the days when stories came in trilogies: home, away, and playoff

yep, thats what was so great about Jordans when he played. You'd get a home colorway, aways, All-Star, then a playoff colorway.

Kobe X's were good, but just felt that the colorways were done horribly. I only own 1 pair of X's (blackouts)

The problem with the Kobe X was that the 'regular' model was aesthetically nice (depending on one's opinion), but used crappy materials.  How many non-flyknit IXs and Xs has the signature athlete himself worn on the court?  Then...the Elites came out, and although they were using better materials (Flyknit) many of them were gimmicky.

The only exception to these rules were the HTMs.  They used the quality material (Flyknit), and were...kinda elegant.  Simplistic.  The yin/yang look of the Shark Jaw, the stealth of the Arrowhead, and the subtle flash of the Racecar.

All of Kobe's PEs were 'elegant' too.  Quality material... ingenious and simple.  The only regular model that was somewhat elegant looking were the Fundamentals, and because they were all white, the crappy/plastic materials were not as obvious.  The regular models even get 'folds' after you use them.  Crap.

They need to keep it simple, but use quality.

If you look at the lace eyelets on both these and the kd 8s, i think its safe to say that the upper is flyweave.

Please don't have Zoom in these, Nike.

I like zoom. Looks like these might just have forefoot, but I wish they were full length.

I at least hope the price is the same, because from the look of the tech it wouldn't justify a price hike.

Im just confused about 2 things...

1. Didnt the chinese info sheet earlier in the thread say it was gonna have a 180 visible zoom bag?

2. Where's the heel counter? or mid foot shank? or anything that will help support and lockdown?

I do realize this is a gs model tho, which is why im not panicking, but it is a head scratcher.

I hate that Nike always defaults to just doing a cushioning system in the heel.

Most sports your taught to stay on the balls of your feet. I know you land on your heel so you want impact protection but give me that reactive pushback of zoom under my toes please

I don't mind a good theme once in a while, but Nike is on overkill with them. Every single release doesn't need a theme. Save them for the special events like BHM, ASG, Christmas, etc.

If the Elites are nice then that's cool, but honestly I just want the EM's to be nice.

Looks like that same cushioning setup as the 10's if so I'm out again. More power to the people who can play in lunar and not wake up with sore joints the next morning. For me Lunarlon = Lunardone. Which is why I never understood why Kobe didn't go to zoom to absorb some of the pounding as each new model came out. Everytime I saw he was out for general sorness, I would just think of the lunarlon instead of zoom air. Like somebody said earlier give me that bounceback of zoom instead of the bottoming out of lunar. But will wait for official specs of the cushioning before I'm officially out.
