More I think about it, if we really can get Melo without trading Blake, DJ or CP, it would be dumb not to give it a shot. Small to moderate risk, potentially very high reward.

It would also all but guarantee both Blake and CP resigning this summer.More I think about it, if we really can get Melo without trading Blake, DJ or CP, it would be dumb not to give it a shot. Small to moderate risk, potentially very high reward.
^^^ Pretty sure Austin or JJ would have to be included
I am officially here for this. The Knicks have let the Clippers know they are open to trading Carmelo Anthony to Los Angeles without getting back either Chris Paul, Blake Griffin or DeAndre Jordan, the New York Daily News reported Thursday.
Carmelo's trade kicker is why you need more than just Austin and Jamal.austin and crawford alone are close enough to match carmelo's salary crawford at 13M and rivers making 11M. maybe the knicks will be ok with that and one more minimal piece? or we could get another player in return and add to the deal.

One unnamed GM believes it will happen, telling Sam Amico of AmicoHoops.net, “I’m betting he is playing next to Blake, Chris Paul and DeAndre right after (trade) deadline.”
Hmmpf, I'll allow it.

Pretty quiet on the Melo front today. Not sure if that's a good or bad sign.
The recent thumb injury suffered by Anthony's good friend Chris Paul, furthermore, has complicated matters, with the Clippers reluctant to part with two of their healthy guards in any trade -- Jamal Crawford, Austin Rivers and J.J. Redick -- while Paul is sidelined.
Sources said that the Knicks are reluctant to absorb the three years and $42 million left on Crawford's contract after this season, which has led to the hunt for a third team that might be interested in Crawford. The Clippers, meanwhile, are hesitant to surrender the sharpshooting Redick even if they were at full strength in the backcourt, sources said.
If a trade gets done, I think Brooklyn will be the third team.

They have $17M in cap space right now. Jamal Crawford and Brice Johnson as the sweetener gets it done.If a trade gets done, I think Brooklyn will be the third team.
