OFFICIAL LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS 2024-2025 SEASON THREAD

More I think about it, if we really can get Melo without trading Blake, DJ or CP, it would be dumb not to give it a shot. Small to moderate risk, potentially very high reward.

It would also all but guarantee both Blake and CP resigning this summer.

what players could we give that add up to 24.6m?

crawford is half of that

pierce
johnson
LRMM

make up the difference

i highly doubt the knicks will want that combo of players in return.

they may want redick, brice johnson and crawford and/or austin rivers

^^^ Pretty sure Austin or JJ would have to be included

agreed. hopefully austin.

carmelo can demand a double team in the post in late game situations and that would mean more open shots for JJ outside of running plays for him. catch+shoot opportunities

Austin would have to be involved. The Knicks Liked Austin and almost got him. This was obviously before his 'breakout' campaign.

IMO

It'll be some combination of Austin/Crawford/AA (or Wejo)/ and some futures if they do this w/o a 3rd team.

Austin avg 12 a game this year in under 26 min, and as a starter he's at like 18 and has become an elite 3pt shooter.

Would be kind of cool to see him on a team where he could really flourish and not have to play behind better players like CP and JJ.

austin and crawford alone are close enough to match carmelo's salary crawford at 13M and rivers making 11M. maybe the knicks will be ok with that and one more minimal piece? or we could get another player in return and add to the deal.

Carmelo's trade kicker is why you need more than just Austin and Jamal.

austin rivers starting in NY and getting serious run allows the knicks to part ways with derrick rose as well. which i know they are interested in.

i am sure the cavs would be interested in his services as well.

One unnamed GM believes it will happen, telling Sam Amico of AmicoHoops.net, “I’m betting he is playing next to Blake, Chris Paul and DeAndre right after (trade) deadline.”

Hmmpf, I'll allow it.

from todays espn article. i kinda thought that JCs 3 years would bother the knicks and i hoped that LAC wouldnt give up JJ. i hope doc doesnt screw this up. if LAC has to be short in the back court for a while then so be it. i hope there is a 3rd team out there interested in a hired gun like JC. i just dont see it happening at his current price tag.

The recent thumb injury suffered by Anthony's good friend Chris Paul, furthermore, has complicated matters, with the Clippers reluctant to part with two of their healthy guards in any trade -- Jamal Crawford, Austin Rivers and J.J. Redick -- while Paul is sidelined.

Sources said that the Knicks ‎are reluctant to absorb the three years and $42 million left on Crawford's contract after this season, which has led to the hunt for a third team that might be interested in Crawford. The Clippers, meanwhile, are hesitant to surrender the sharpshooting Redick even if they were at full strength in the backcourt, sources said.

doc has also been quoted saying that he thinks the team is good enough now. i know thats what he has to say, but its a flat out lie. the clippers NEED carmelo anthony if we/they are gonna get out of the west.

i think melo coming to LAC will improve his defensive efficiency as well. i think he's a capable defender...just not a willing and motivated defender. give him something to play for, and he will defend. true stars dont need this motivation...but melo does. IMO

Pretty quiet on the Melo front today. Not sure if that's a good or bad sign.

The calm before the storm. I find it crazy that phil jackson would send melo here without asking for at least blake. :lol does he hate the Lakers that much. I remember when I mentioned trading Melo for Blake and people said melo was garbage. I guess its different if your trading him for Austin/Crawford or JJ.
