OFFICIAL LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS 2024-2025 SEASON THREAD

The calm before the storm. I find it crazy that phil jackson would send melo here without asking for at least blake.

does he hate the Lakers that much. I remember when I mentioned trading Melo for Blake and people said melo was garbage. I guess its different if your trading him for Austin/Crawford or JJ.
It really is all about Melo's NTC and if he is that adamant about moving Melo.

If he's that adamant about moving Melo, then he kind of has to take what LAC (and the third team potentially) gives him because of how limited his trading options are, due to his NTC. Like, if he wants to trade melo that badly, and melo will only go to like LAC, (Bos has no interest in him) what else can Phil do but take what LAC gives him. (IF he's that hellbent on trading him.)

And yes, it's very different if you're trading Melo for Blake instead of Melo for Austin&Jamal

I still want the trade to happen more than I think the trade will happen, but we'll see.

^^^ Never been a big Melo fan and still wouldn't want him if it would take any of our big 3. But if you can get him for less it's worth the gamble because maybe playing with 3 other all-stars gets him closer to being the best version of himself. Like he's been with Team USA

They have $17M in cap space right now. Jamal Crawford and Brice Johnson as the sweetener gets it done.

i dont think any team in the league wants to take on jamal crawfords 3 year contract. if it were a year, or...maybe 2...but 3yrs? nah. but theres a sucker born every day

For what it's worth, the last year in his deal is basically a team option and less than half of it is guaranteed, so there's that lol

agreed, but teams dont want to hold on to JC past this year being that he is what? 36? i can only see a real championship contender wanting him for a half season rental. if it wasnt for the clippers NEEDING him back because of the cap situation, there wouldnt have been any market for JC.

although i think the knicks are dumb for not taking him. he can keep things exciting and put a professional scorer on the floor in NY. it can help bridge the gap between now and relevance for them. IMO

Was some possibility that Steph wasn't going to go tonight, but looks like he's playing.

Didn't eeem realize this was a network national TV game. We're definitely getting embarrassed. :lol

If we lose by less than 20, I'll consider it a good showing.

Have we beaten the Warriors in the Doc era? Once, twice maybe? We're getting progressively worse against them...

I Feel like whether it's melo or somebody, Doc is going to be active at the deadline

This is the line in the sand

But yeah, as currently constructed, the way Doc coaches, we have no chance against the Warriors.

i agree.

doc's philosophy on what it takes for his team to compete with gsw is ALL WRONG

at times i wonder what the hell he is telling his players? what points of emphasis is he trying to make? what is his primary focus?

i see teams have success against gsw. why is he not piggy backing off of what other teams have tried and what has worked? :{

It's maddening. He has made no adjustments at all against the Warriors. He just does the same stuff and hopes we'll figure it out. ITS NOT HAPPENING!!! Try something a little different, genius.

agreed. carmelo or no carmelo, doc has to change alot if we are gonna compete with gsw.

i personally dont even think he's the right coach for this team anymore.

look at the adjustments the cavs made after game 2 of last years finals. they switched almost everything, got their communication down, smothered those split plays gsw runs where 3 players come together, screen for each other and work their way open (similar to a trips formation in football) killed gsw on the glass, made curry work every possession on D etc etc

doc hasnt picked up any of those principles. not 1

I have issues with the way Doc attacks gsw offensively, but Doc actually is telling the Clips to switch defensively Switching against gsw though isn't easy and the clippers have consecutive breakdowns on that end.

But regardless, this is all mental man. How the **** you wax the Spurs twice, wax the cavs, wax Memphis twice, but can't come within 50 to the warriors. Come on man, the warriors don't beat any other team to this extent. It's more than just X's and O's, these ****** are flat out scared man.

On another note Blake Griffin looked really good from a physical standpoint and was the only bright spot.

I don't buy any of that mental talk. They are just much better than us as well as a bad matchup. If anything, GSW gets up against us way more than they do any other team not named Clevelnd. We get their absolute best shot every time. They hate us and they make a point to beat the dog**** out of us every chance they get. Look what they did to the Cavs the other day. If we were a team like Memphis we could catch them slippin every now and then :lol

I'd rather lose by 40 than blow a double digit lead in the 4th like last season though. I loved tonight's game compared to last year's first matchup.
