OFFICIAL LOS ANGELES CLIPPERS 2024-2025 SEASON THREAD

Would like this series to be quick and surgical. 5 games at the most. Give Blake and CP more time to rest.

I'm REALLY interested in Doc's rotations and this whole PP/Luc thing. Jeff Green has been playing well lately.
Think he will start Luc for sure. PP will play, but I don't think Doc is as tied to PP as ppl believe. Think he will sit PP if he isn't hitting 3's.

Deandre Jordan is a much improved basketball player this year. His Right hand duck ins have been money this year. Quiet as it's kept, he's also been able to find and make plays once he catches the ball. Also has the power dribble and explode from the free throw line move going for him as well.

I say that to say, I want for LAC to continue exploring and playing with / Thru DJ on offense a bit in this series. Helps with his confidence and will help even more if / when we get to GSW. There's no reason IMO, for us to allow this version of Deandre Jordan to be guarded by Harrison Barnes.

I think this is right. I wouldn't have said so at the beginning of the year, but I think Doc has reached the point that he's only going to play PP if the match-ups favor him being on the floor and he's hitting shots. Same with Luc, TBH, though I do think Luc will continue to start. But we have too many options at the 3 now for Doc to play someone who is clearly a negative factor.

J.J. Redick was in a walking boot last two days and won't practice today because of heel but expects to play in Game 1.

This ain't. JJ is crucial to this team's success.

Three L.A. Clippers have a defensive field goal % below 40%: Luke Richard Mbah a Moute, J.J. Redick, and Austin Rivers.
The LA Clippers defense is one that should get more praise. The Clippers sport the 6th best defense in the league, and over their past 12 games were the best defense in the NBA, and had the best overall net rating during that span. Also of note, they have the fourth best 3pt defense in the NBA.
LAC defense this season.

Keys:

- Rebounding. For a myriad of reasons, (Hi Lawrence and Doc) we're a terrible rebounding team, considering the personnel we have on this team. In our matchups with Portland this season, they were very active on their O / glass and guys like Ed Davis and Mason can be an issue there. Our rebounding w/Blake since he's been back has been much better though, and he and DJ reaalllyyyy controlled the glass for us last postseason. The hope is that between Blake and DJ, we should be able to minimize our boarding disadvantage. I don't expect us to outrebound anyone, but it can't be an outrageous disparity in favor of portland.

- Dame. We've been able to bottle up Dame since he's been in the league, and ideally we hope for that to continue. Keep bodies in front of him, no straight line drives, just continue to make it real tough on him. Blake, DJ, Jeff Green, Wes, all bigs have to be active in P&R with him.

- Wild cards. This will be a theme all postseason. This is the key that will take us as far as we're going to go this postseason. Austin, Jamal, Jeff Green, Wes Johnson, Paul Pierce, Luc even, all these guys have to be plus guys for us. Austin, Jamal, Wes, and Jeff Green have really picked it up in the 2nd half of the season, which is great. If that continues then we're looking at a completely different team, one that is the deepest Clipper team that we've had since 2012-2013.

I kind of label Game 1 as a must win. You literally almost never lose a series if you win Game 1. Teams who win game 1 win the series a resounding 77% of the time. (Ironically, one of 23% who alter that stat is the Clippers. Lost game 1 against GSW in 2014, won the series. Won game 1 against OKC in 2014, lost the series. Won game 1 against Houston in 2015, lost the series.) Regardless, game 1 is vital and is a must win.

i hate that we are a bad rebounding team. we truly should be the best rebounding team in the league. i feel like some of that is blake's/coaching fault. simply because they have excused him from having any rebounding burden at all being that he "does so many other things". to me it is inexcusable for him to have anything less than 9 rebounds a game. i have also heard the lame excuse that DJ grabs so many. that excuse is played too.

if you really want to win a championship...you (blake) and others are gonna have to step up and crash the boards...or at least put forth an elite effort on the boards within the game plan.

part of my criticism regarding this team (IMO) is that there is no personal dog in most individual players outside of CP3. i dont believe in basketball analytics past the point of showing what a player has done and identifying his tendencies. i believe that championship players and teams are much more than that.

Takeaways

-Like seeing Blake attacking much more. Seems like he still isn't confident in his shot but J actually prefer this style of play. The jumper should be plan B.

-Chris Paul. Never a concern. Doing Chris Pul things.

-Finally on the LRMM train. The defense really is much better with him on the floor (at least with the eye test)

-The Bench held/increased leads tonight. Would like to see that every game.

-Why is PP getting burn over Wes? :{

^^^Blake really gotta get comfortable with that Jumper out of the P&R.

He's been ***** up some possessions up by not taking it :lol.

clippers need to end this series in 4-5 games, get some rest for GSW. I really think they are the only team to give GSW problems when 100% healthy hopefully Curry's ankle is messed up :p

1 down, 15 to go.

Game 1 was an extention of how LAC has been playing over the past month plus. Efficient offense, stifling defense.

Tonight showed why LAC has a top defense and a top bench this season.

Jamal played well defensively. Which was a huge plus and surprise.

I still cringe at some of the shots he takes, and at the cheering on he gets when he actually makes them. When he's defending, and catching the ball on the go....he's "good Jamal". Hopefully, that's what we see throughout the playoffs.

Very impressive showing tonight.

They need to keep that same focus on the defensive end

Good win last night. Did not how Doc started Luc on McCollum and put JJ on Harkless, but I guess he was trying to reduce the strain on JJs heel. Felt like all the cross-match ups messed up our rotations a bit. But we got it together and delivered an excellent defensive performance. The offense was good, if not a little spotty, particularly with the bench. We won by 20 and I feel like we have room to improve, which is encouraging.

Also, Stotts' penchant for hacking DJ is going to get real old. Seem like he does it just to be a ****, TBH, and not because he really thinks its going to help them win,

I think you nailed the biggest point for me. We won by 20 and it still feels like we got room for improvement. I hope we continue to fly under the radar and close this series ASAP.
