**Official Meek Mill Thread****Dreamchasers IV Out Now**

wale tries too hard to be this laid back smooth dude

it doesnt seem real, especially listening to this dude since 08

Always felt that way :lol

Edit:"Meek is srictly for hood cats that spend $10,000 in the strip club, but their children are at home starving with dirty diapers."

Album about Nothing was pretty dope IMO... And if you say all of his songs are for females it's obvious you only listen to his radio stuff...

I'm 100% about one thing Wale >>>>> Meek and it ain't close at all.

:lol did this turn in to the MMG thread?

It's funny at the hate Wale gets

this just isn't true...I'm convinced dudes just listen to his radio songs and form a judgement...meek do talk his **** sometimes but he also touch on a lot of things that most rappers don't or get way more praise for..go listen to that cream freestyle..Trillest...even in his interviews..

But then they will try and convince you they heard it and listen to music and artist they don't like. :lol

Sorry, but I can't listen to Migos or Young Thug. If I have the choice if listening to someone I don't like or something I might like or do like. Why would I waste an hour of my life with someone I don't like?

Sometimes rap fans take on the persona of their favorite rappers. There are examples of this all over page 1.

Far from a Wale fan, but I definitely recognize that dude can rap and can churn out 1-2 legit hits a year. His personality rubs you the wrong way though. Partly because he's delusional about his abilities and also because he just comes off as annoying with no self awareness and no chill.

His frustration comes with him being on the outside looking in of that leaders of the new school class of Drake/Kendrick/Cole that we hail as the premier rappers.

Lyrically, Wale is on par with Cole... doesn't have the same appeal of likeabliltiy, or delivery. Wale is a better lyricist than Drake but not a better hit maker, and Wale has wrote songs with similar substance to Kendricks...but not with the same depth.

So he looks at the accolades and conversations and feels like he's up there with those guys and can compete with them and be in the conversation. Problem is, those guys are simply more likeable and acclaimed artists. They are more well rounded and packaged.

2009+ saw a sort of pseudo backpacker, emotional fashion rapper revolution coming off the backs of Kanye/Lupe's mainstream success. This is what allowed the Drake/Cole/Wale/Kendrick/Big Sean/Wiz/Cudi etc to exist.

There became a notion that these type of rappers were what hip hop ultimately needed, and the critics loved them...fans bought in and they began to dominate. Meek came along at this time, hence why he always stresses the point of having a street rapper to balance things...problem for him is....it's just not him.

meek is lucky east coast street music been dead for so long, he would probably still be a mixtape rapper

And he had the nerve to say I sound mad..lol

cars, clothes, and women is what most rappers talk about nowadays anyway, so what makes meek so different..Really, how many mainstream rappers that's young enough for the younger generation to care about what their saying other than j.cole and Kendrick talks in a conscious way. None that I know of..I don't hear these guys talking about what's really going in these hoods...meek just last night posted about Sandra bland..

It's true. He looked like a raggamuffin, with poor gear. But he was "in the hood" "with money" if he been had "money" he darn sure acts like he didn't. And in 2009/2010? His gear was weak. He got a stylist, but acts like a fashionisto. Get out of here. There ARE definitely conscious emcees out. Stop bringing up the mainstream. People are under the wrong impression thinking these modern artist want to discuss social issues. Stop making excuses for people falling into the trap of not exploring other hip hop musicians.

I pretty much agree with all of this.

Meek is a street rapper though. The issue is that he wants to be Jay-Z and Puff, 0 to 100, but you're not Jay or Puff. Like Wale, he tries so hard, he looks corny. Jeezy and TI didn't do like him. They just were themselves. Most rappers take a step back from the media and public, not Meek.

Meek wants to be respected for being Meek. That's the street aspect of things. In rap you earn that though, and it normally comes from your rapping, not if you're respected in your hood. Jeezy is God to many, because of 101.

Wale wants to be respected for his rapping

The problem with music is often it becomes the cool thing to like someone. Like Cole. It's like having a book shelf full of books but you don't read them. A lot of people like to appear deep or intellectual. So Wale sees this and goes what about me? Yeah I do the chick songs, but I'm saying something. Don't ya'll listen to lyrics? Isn't that why you say you like Cole and Kendrick?

Agree. I wasn't saying meek isn't a street rapper though. I'm saying he isn't "the one". For all the reasons you mentioned.

And people really do "LOVE TO APPEAR DEEP." They'll buy the Cole and Kendrick album and never listen to it. But will post a screen shot on IG of the music playing lol.

This is like back in the day when people would say Talib and Common were one of their favorite artist just to appear deep and not know a single song.

Cole and Kendrick are some of my favorite relatively new artist, but it's the "cool" thing to like them. It's not as cool to like Wale. Even more so Krit who was once right there as far as perception with those guys.

I feel Krit and Currensy are still that way for a lot of people in the south who don't want to just be identified by Future and Young Thug. Who may have grown up on Killer Mike, Bun and Outkast.

They're like Joey and Bronson to a lot of New Yorkers. Me, I'd rather listen to Dave East, because if I wanted to hear 90's rap....I have a ton of it in the crib from people who did it better. So I can't get with Krit or Currensy either. Krit is like Cole for me, I wish they used other producers more.

I never got in to the a persons personality overshadows their music, because I didn't grow up in a social media era. You were happy to get a glimpse of things from XXL, Source or watching Rap City.

A lot of rappers messed up when they stopped being heroes.

Social media is going to kill a lot of these kids careers before they really get started. They reveal way too much. Wale would be bigger if so many people didn't dislike him. He has personality, the hits and the talent. People will dislike you, because what they heard you did from someone else.

Bro, you gotta be Wale.

Can I get some show tickets fam? :hat

:lol

Hahahahaha, okay. You said I didn't hear his earlier ****, I'm telling you I heard all of his early **** and songs you never heard. That was the point but you win. Carry on. Enjoy listening to Wale and I'll continue not to.

:lol @ "Be embarrassed at who raised you"

Damn son.

Guy attacked my mother on a forum to defend his favorite rapper that he's never met. Life is crazy.

:rollin :rollin :rollin :rollin

Why did you listen to that much Wale if you aint like him lol

Wale is a cool rapper, I still feel like some of his stuff goes over ppls heads or is just reaching to try to make it seem that way. Theres no gray area with him

People really do hate Wale for no reason. The Album About Nothing and The Gifted are musically two of the best rap albums in recent memory.

Whoever said something about ppl loving to APPEAR like they are deep

FACTSSSSSSSSSSSS

Most annoying thing I see on my TL on IG and Twitter daily
