Garcia might hit hard, but his technique isn't exactly 'crisp'. That's my only knock on him. But hey, it seems to be working, so who am I torecommend a change

I couldn't help but notice how small Leonard Garcia made Jens look.

And yeah, he was up there flailing. But there are definitely people out there that are succeptable to that (Keith Jardine with his losses to Wanderlei andHouston Alexander come to mind immediately). I didn't think Jens was one of those guys until last night. And honestly, I didn't think much of Garciacoming into the fight. I though he was built up because of his battle with Roger Huerta and built a reputation off of that one fight.

faber got his lights turned out. nice. the way it happened

some news:

werdum leaves ufc

Following a rocky time in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, capped by a surprising knockout loss to Octagon newcomer Junior dos Santos at UFC 90, Chute Boxe fighter Fabricio Werdum has left the promotion.

Sources tell MMAWeekly.com that Werdum's exit comes on the heels of a failed contract renegotiation following the loss to dos Santos. The Brazilian came into the fight with the expectation that he would soon be contending for a heavyweight title shot.

The knockout at UFC 90 derailed anything of the like in the near future, and spurred a renegotiation of his contract. Werdum and the UFC were apparently unable to come to an agreement. He has already opened talks with other promotions in the U.S. and Japan.

After losing his opening salvo in the UFC to Andrei Arlovski, Werdum put together back-to-back impressive victories with TKOs of Gabriel Gonzaga and Brandon Vera, effectively positioning him as one of the top contenders in the promotion's heavyweight division.

Current champion Randy Couture faces Brock Lesnar at UFC 91 on Saturday and interim heavyweight titleholder Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira defends against Frank Mir on Dec. 27 at UFC 92. The winners of those two fights are expected to fight in early 2009, as a unification bout to the UFC mini-tournament.

Had Werdum taken care of business against dos Santos, he was expected to be in contention to face the unified heavyweight champion later in the year. Now it appears he will be moving on to another promotion such as Affliction in the U.S. or Dream or Sengoku in Japan.

^Sucks to see him go, not that he was that big a name, but because the HW division is weak as hell. Could've kept him around and fed him to Carwin orVelasquez lol.

Speaking of Carwin and Velasquez. When are they going to give these guys some competition instead of parading out these tomato cans that theysteamroll in 50 seconds flat?

Any Las Vegas natives know of where to catch the fight without going to the actual event? As luck would have it I will be in town this weekend but dont feellike shelling out $500 to see it live (damn recession). Do any of the casinos offer a viewing anywhere?

Your dilemma reminds me of mine a fewmonths back. WORST. UFC. WEEKEND. EVER.

I couldn't find a casino/restaurant/bar to watch the fight anywhere in that damn city. It was the St. Pierre/Serra rematch in April. I finally tracked downa place that was hosting a 'viewing party' at a station casino, but it was only the first 100 people allowed, and I got there laste obviously, so theywouldn't let me in.

I finally settled that I wasn't gonna find a place to watch it and headed back to my cousins house (where I was staying that weekend). I was browsing thisthread on NT and happened to come across a live feed on Comcast, and I was able to catch the last 2 fights. I nearly *%++ my pants when I found out Iwasn't gonna be able to watch it.

Hopefully you have better luck finding a place than I did!

Good looking out man. I heard that they show it at the Aliante Station Casino so I was thinkin of headin over there to watch it, but none of thedudes I'm gonna be with are real hardcore fans so prying them away from the tables to get their early enough to be the first 100 in line would have beennext to impossible. Saved me the trip. I actually ended up finding some tickets online for a smoking good price ($200 for lower level tickets) but my cheapfriends dont want to pay that much to go. I am seriously considering pullin the loser card and buying a single ticket and just going by myself hahahaha. Gonna be a bummer to miss Couture's return.

$200!!

No joke, I would not hesitate to pull the trigger on that purchase! F' my cheap friends, I'd ditch 'em for a live UFC any day lol. Especially themagnitude of this fight, that's a no brainer if it was me.

On that note, the Hazelett/McCrory fight has been bumped to the main card, Sadollah has been scratched from his fight due to a leg infection. Hope it'snothing serious, I was looking forward to his fight.

Finally get to see Dennis Kang in the UFC (93). Been waiting on that for years. Should provide another solid competitor at MW.

the entire 93 card is rounding out quite nicely.

lytle/davis should be a serious throwdown.

rousimar palhares returns after what i thought was a decent showing against hendo as well.

I'm looking forward to his debut also, let's just hope it's a refocused and reenergized Kang who shows up!

BJ Penn GSP 2 was officially announced yesterday. Tons of great MMA this holiday season. I've got $100 on Couture TKO and $100 on Joe Daddy

I'mready.

as far as im concerned, biggest fight ever.

both have improved an unreal amount since the first fight.

have two consensus top 5 fighters in the world even squared off in the modern era of mma yet?

gsp could put bj on his @*! and control him for the whole fight, his wrestlng has really gotten to that point. gsp is adept at avoiding submissions butpenn's bjj is just unheard of.

damn it could really just go either way.

rooting for gsp but i cant help but think that in a 5 rounder, bj is going to catch him. he just throws cinder blocks for a smaller fighter.

pumped.

Chuck vs. Randy 2 or 3 wouldn't qualify?

i dont know if randy was ever there at the same time liddel was. and lidell wasnt quite there yet when randy might have been. close and some might say thathe was, but fighters like wandy, fedor, nog, hendo, crocop, etc were still out there back then.

randy is that dude but he's never exactly been dominant over a period of time. even now he's only on a 2 fight win streak, away from a ko.

a lot of people are quick to give it up to randy as the best ever and he certainly has an argument, but i think it's closer than most think.

i think dominance holds more clout than the ability to continually comeback as admirable as that might seem.

that being said ill be rooting for him to bash lesnar's face. whether i think he'll actually win is a more complicated story.

How about Cro Cop / Fedor?

news:

Kim Couture, wife and business partner of UFC heavyweight champion Randy Couture, has filed a lawsuit and been granted a temporary restraining order in a Las Vegas court against Affliction CEO Todd Beard, according to a report by MMAPayout.com.

"The suit alleges that Beard threatened Couture and seeks a restraining order preventing Beard or others working in concert with Beard from interacting, communicating and/or having any contact with Couture, including attending the events surrounding UFC 91 this weekend at the MGM Grand. A temporary restraining order was granted by a judge this morning," read the report.

The threat allegedly took place after Randy Couture decided to rejoin the ranks of the UFC. He will defend his heavyweight title on Saturday night at UFC 91 against Brock Lesnar.

Kim Couture told MMAWeekly.com, "Yes, it is true. The reports are accurate, but I'm not able to comment further at this time."

Affliction and Randy Couture are partners in the Xtreme Couture line of clothing, and evidently, Beard did not take kindly to Couture's return to the UFC. Affliction also runs its own mixed martial arts promotion and is not allowed to promote it or Couture's clothing line at UFC events.

While appearing on the Scott Ferrall radio show shortly after Couture re-signed with the UFC, Beard made a bold statement about Couture regarding his match-up against Lesnar.

"Randy, if you're listening right now, I hope (expletive) Lesnar kills you," Beard stated.

The lawsuit also reportedly includes a private background check on Beard that allegedly unearthed several past felonies with prison time served, according to MMAPayout.

That Beard clown is really running his mouth. He better be connected or run with a tough crew, if he is gonna speak on the Fertittas/White or Couture like heis.

I hope Randy busts Brock up good. Wouldn't mind seeing Brock leave the 'gon with a Evan Tanner face courtesy of Rich.

Can't wait for BJ/GSP 2. Bj should have walked through Georges the first fight but gased and messed up his ribcage. I think BJ comes in and pushes thefight to the likes GSP has never seen. BJ seems to finally be motivated and that is horrible news for anyone that has to fight him.

If its Kang vs Belcher, that will be a war. 2 very good dtandup guys. The next couple of UFC's look real good on paper.
