But our bullpen is pretty solid (minus what happened yesterday I know) and we have servicable guys back there to help build to Mariano as evidenced by theway they pitched today. Joba was always going to be a starter and it really does matter who we replace him with. I'm not trying to watch Phil Hughesstruggle through the first 3 innings every fifth game, until he shows something in the minors. But, ultimately time will tell.

true 3 blue: Gus >>>> Sterling. Gus doesn't make as many mistakes with HR calls and routine fly balls

Now listening to the postgame for Sterling's HR calls:

"It's a Johnny Rocket!"
"Mark delivers a Tex message to right-center! You're on the Mark, Teixeira! They go back to back, and BELLY TO BELLY!"
"The Melk-man delivers! Hey, that's the Melky Way!"
"Robbie Cano launched one as he pulled it off a left-hander high and deep into the second deck! Robbie Cano! Don'tcha know?!"
And the WCBS Newsradio 880 Turning Point of the Game:

"That ball is high...it is far...it is GONE! ... He drives it into the porch in right! EL CAPITAN!"

Excuses, excuses.

Your team has two shots at redemption this weekend. An opportunity to smack around a flaccid Wang on Saturday and an opportunity for the American Idle, CarlPavano, to stick it to his former team on Sunday.

BTW, Joe Smith was a good pickup for the Indians. When his stuff is on point, he gets a strikeout almost all the time. My Met fan friends made me join a JoeSmith Fan Club on Facebook,

, you're right about the home run calls And yall shouldve known that when we win everybody goes hiding.

question, when will your management swallow their pride and put Joba where he's supposed to be?

^ he is where he is suppose to be. You cant waste talent like Joba in the pen. Hes got electric stuff and potential to be a top flight starter once he developssome more.

Great win today, glad to see the homer runs poppin today.

Damon, Tex, Cano, Cabrera and the captain.

Jeter is the man...so is Mo who saved the day.

YANKEES!!!

Dude had one bad start, chill.....hes had only 2 or 3 starts where hes given up more than 3 earned runs, his command sucked today but he did not get hithard............hes not going to the bullpen

LOL the Joba debate will never die.

He still needs to show he has the stamina to go the distance. The Yankees have put some sort of inning cap on him so he will have to get bailed out by thebullpen more often than others. But it is still early so perhaps he will have time to refine his secondary and tertiary pitches so he can get out of inningswith ease.

He was filthy out of the pen, there is no denying that. Problem is that he was always a starting pitcher in college and wants to be a starting pitcher. I guesshe has to swallow his pride, as well.

If he really struggles as a starter, then the Yankees should seriously consider to make him a reliever and he has to accept that role. I just hope Phil Hughesand/or Ian Kennedy are more prepared for the big leagues than they were last year.

Not making any guarantees that Joba can become the G.O.A.T. out of the bullpen but Mariano Rivera came up as a starting pitcher; look where he is now.

Like we've been saying, outside of Veras, and Marte the bullpen isn't as bad as people are making it seem.

I agree with Joba in the pen. Who's to say that when Mo retires we'll have another closer lined up? Put Joba in the pen, Bruney at middle relief andwhen Mo retires Joba can be the closer.

meh, i've been through it before...to each his own i guess. but he's lights out outa the pen. and when you contend every single year, and have an agingcloser.....well...

Mo still wants to pitch. I remember reading an interview where he said he wanted to learn how to throw a changeup.

I remember people were hating on Mo for one bad year he had a couple years ago and were asking him to hang up his cleats...last season he was just

out ofthe pen.

I mentioned this before but I'll say it again: keep your eyes out for Mark Melancon. Dude has been a beast in AAA and if he is as good as advertised in themajors, he will easily be a closer, or a trusty setup man at the very least.
