As relievers Brian Bruney=Joba Chamberlain.

Bruney is a small sample you're foolish if you think he is on the same level as Joba.

Bruney 7th, Joba 8th, Mariano 9th solves a lot of pen issues for them.
Small sample?

Brian Bruney innings pitched as a Yankee reliever: 111
Joba Chamberlains innings pitched as a Yankee reliever: 59

Its still a small sample considering Bruney had a bad year in 2007, a good one last year, and is solid so far this year (good but not great).

Joba is GREAT, probably one of the better 8th inning guys period and he is a far better pitcher....you CAN'T say Bruney will do whatever Joba is capable of doing when that's far from the truth.

Having guys lock down innings 7-9 changes the dynamic of a baseball game for the opposition, the rest of the guys can just be throw ins.

If its a small sample size than what is Joba's? Bruney has pitched 111 innings as a Yankee, more than enough to know what type of pitcher hewill be.
How can I not say that Bruney will do what Joba is capable of when given the chance he has?

Johan Santana moved from the bullpen into the rotation mid-season just like Joba, how did that work out?

Having a starter lock down innings 1-7 also changes the dynamic of a baseball game. Why move Hughes into the rotation when Joba is a better starter?

Not even.

When your starter is THIS bad? There's really nothing positive that can come out of the crowd's reaction.I'd do the same thing.

Back to back starts. Same result.

2009 STATS
ERAW-LSOWHIP

Amazing.

Nah those boos are warranted, but Wang says hes healthy dude seems like he has ZERO confidence though.

Wowzer. Whatever it is with Wang this year, the coaches can't seem to remedy. Please send this guy back to the minors and call up Hughes. He couldn'tpossibly be any worse. 33 era????!!!! That's truly epic.

Start the "BEAT THE TRAFFIC!" chants.

At this rate, Swish has to pitch in relief again...and the Yankees need to get the Wang checked out. Gotta wonder if that foot injury he had last year and allthat time he spent on rehab really ruined his mechanics.

So who should be called up? Tomko? Aceves? Hughes? Kennedy?

But I could care less.
# of wins we can secure with a Joba/Rivera combination >>> # of wins Joba can win or give us the win
Pretty much.
Nope.

I disagree with both points.

Thankfully the powers that be, the ones more intelligent then people like you.... IN the Yankees organization.... agree with ME
You're such a pretentious douche.

Move Joba to the pen, put Hughes back in the 5th spot and let him develop. It really doesn't matter who your starters are when your bullpen can't hold onto a lead. Word to the 2008 Mets.

Why? Because I'm right?

I'm pretty sure people that do baseball for their lives know more then people in this thread.

Plus....

#1 or #2 SP a few years down the road >>>>>> 8th inning man now

Yea maybe I'd believe you if Billy Beane was running the Yankees, but yea the Steinbrenners
eyes.gif

Besides a few years down the road when Mo is retired who's going to close out games for you? You really think the Yankees are gonna find somebody as dominate as Joba to pitch the 9th?

Oh yeah and since we're so dumb, the Red Sox must have been dumb for keeping Papelbon in the bullpen right?

What do the Steinbrenners have to do with anything? They own the team and make no personnel decisions, unlike Billy Beane.

Papelbon's shoulder couldnt handle the workload of a starter. Thats why he had to stay in the bullpen. He was also no where even close to the starter Jobawas. He does not have enough pitches and cannot maintain his velocity like a starter should.

i'm thinking the same thing. he has to be sent down cause he's obviously off. let him correct his problems and bring him back up.there's no point in us sending him out there if he's only averaging 2 innings a start

Ben Francisco is the 14th batter of the inning.

KLJ, you got your redemption and so much more today. I tip my cap to the Indians and their lineup...everyone can freakin' hit...

No, don't give them that much credit. Wang was throwing batting practice out there.
