And his slugging is in line with his career average.  His 14.7 AB/HR is better than every DH including David Ortiz (the HR leader for DH's) by a full 2 at bats....  Had we played Andruw the entire season instead of wasting our time on Jorge he would be on pace for 30+ Homruns 85+ RBI's...  For a DH who would be hitting anywhere between 6-8 in the order is great.. And even if he is having an "off" season he would fully be capable of hitting 20+ Homeruns 70+ RBI's.  Once again because we have so much bat support from Robbie, Tex, Grandy, normally A-Rod if we got 20+ HR's 70+ RBI's from Andruw which is great at the bottom of the order it is a good move...

You're making a case for Andruw Jones being the full-time DH for the New York Yankees based on homerun and RBI figures in 133 ABs? You're doing it wrong. He hasn't been an everyday player in years, let alone DH for the Yankees.

How can you mention 2012 without bringing up Montero, Banuelos and/or Betances?

Unless we make a trade, these kids are gonna get every chance to fail in 2012, we've been waiting 2 years for them.

As far as getting a #2, I think it's not as desperate as some make it out to be. From what I've read, most scouts and front office people have been saying Nova is a 2, or 3 at worse, add Hughes to that mix who's a 3-4, or a 2 if he regains last years form and there's no need to OD for a #2. IMO the only way these kids don't get a chance is if Cash $ ends up taking the Cubs job or King Felix becomes available. Don't forget he refused to add Nova and Nunez to the Cliff Lee deal, though he felt he would sign in the off season but still. And there was alot of published reports that at the deadline Cash was telling teams he had 6-7 untouchables out of the players people were asking for, including the players here on the big squad, so go figure...

Not trying to hate but just as Yankees fan ( are you a Yankees fan?) how can you honestly think we need to resign Jones, have Thames on the team, and try to sign Papi?

Yes lifelong Yankees fan...

Was 100% aware we signed Thames to a minor league contract...

And I was not advocating to get Thames, Jones & Papi... I should have made myself much more clear... I would go after Papi (more as payback for Boston going after Mo last year hence why it was a long shot).. And if by chance you get him you forget about the other 2. But since we won't get Papi you go for Thames & Jones...

The reason why you get both Jones & Thames on the roster is they both are big hitters... I understand they are the same type hitter... BUT it actually gives the Yankees much more depth when it is needed to have them both on the team... And that extra bat off the bench would be tremendous for the Yankees... We need a DH & a backup OF next year... They both allow us to play around with the lineup and play to our strength which is big time hitters....

Would you rather be able to bring up Jones & Thames as pinch hitters or some mediocre hitter who is a certain out...  That is the way I look at it... We don't need a back up OF for the Glove because Gardener can play all 3 positions.. And Andruw still has a servicable glove in LF & RF... Instead of having a BS player play when Andruw is needed to fill into the outfield you have Thames who when he gets hold of the ball can drive it...

Forget all the metrics on my bench I want someone who can come up and rip a homerun or a extra base hit which in those roles they are capable... Not like most teams where their bench players are just fill in spots..

I was advocating bringing up Montero and said he should play behind Martin next year, and set him up to take over like we did with Jorge when he took over for Girardi..

I didn't mention Banuelos because excluding Single A in 09 he has been terrible in the Minors... He is nowhere close to being ready no matter what anyone tells you he isn't..

Betances is further than Banuelos but I don't think he is ready April next year, maybe he will be mid season but I doubt he would April.. I also doubt he gets a serious look next year unless we couldnt get 1 person to fill the #5.

I said Hughes at 2 & Nova at 3 and we'd still probably be fine.. But what would be smart is getting a solid #2 or maybe a very good number 3 for our rotation and then we could bring up a Betances because there is far less risk in that than if we had to bring up Banuelos and Betances next year opening day rotation would be a huge mistake..

Just my opinion guys..  I believe in having power on the bench and giving the team as many mix and match lineups and situations rather than speed.. And I am never sold on pitching prospects in the minors until they can post really good numbers consistently in the minors and you gotta remember Banuelos is 20..  We'd be better served to give him a couple years to get it all together..

And it is also not like we need to be in a desparate rush to get younger in our rotation.. CC will be 32, Hughes 26, Nova 25....  We have time to let those guys develop for a couple years to become main stays..

I have to head to work right now, but I'm pumped to give my (early) input for 2012 when I get home later tonight.

So Colon was suppose to only throw 100 innings this season and is currently at 124.2. Guess that'll make the who's the odd man out decision easier

My Lord if we won that game just now... Swish came this close to a 7-RBI night.

I'm content with Andruw and Chavez to fill in at DH when necessary instead of Jorge. No need for Pena.
