If anything since Russ went down I've leaned more to thinking it's him and his play that makes KD look like a #1 option.

As much as it sickened me to see Russy go down at least EVERYONE can now see how valuable he truly was to this team. They win this series in 6 IMO if he was playing

It's no doubt that without Russell, the weight to carry the entire team is too much for him to handle alone. Instead of worrying about 2 threats, teams can now just focus solely on KD. That goes without saying KD is still a beast but he definitely needs Westbrooks help.
