The Minnesota Timberwolves have agreed to a deal in principle with Rick Adelman to become coach, according to a person with knowledge of the situation.

Details of the deal were still being worked out today. The agreement was expected to be finalized Tuesday.

The Wolves were willing to wait for Adelman, 65, to make up his mind, which is why the search for Kurt Rambis' replacement took as long as it did.

Rambis was fired July 12 after posting a 32-132 record in two seasons. Adelman becomes the 11th head coach in the Timberwolves' 22-year history and the fifth since former coach Flip Saunders was fired in 2005.

Timberwolves forward Kevin Love, who two years ago broke the news on Twitter that Kevin McHale was out as Minnesota coach, apparently did it again earlier today.

"Houston, we have a coach," Love wrote on his Twitter account this afternoon.

As covered in an earlier blog post (you can find all of that information here: exhibition game) a game between "Team Philly" and "Team Melo" is scheduled for Sept. 25 at 6 p.m. at The Palestra. The game already included all-NBA rosters for both sides, plus Carmelo Anthony, plus 76ers combo guard Lou Williams, plus a bunch of solid NBA names.

Now it includes LeBron James, Chris Paul, and Kevin Durant -- four of basketball's biggest names (including Anthony) will be playing in Philly in two weeks.

Tickets for the game will go on sale tomorrow (Tuesday) at 9 a.m. at the Palestra box office, at participating VILLA locations throughout Philly, or online at RUVILLA.com. Prices are currently set between $30 and $50. The game will be broadcast on the web on The Basketball Channel.

The game was organized by Rahim Thompson, who in 2002 founded The Chosen League in Philly.
