2nd seed? :lol Knicks gonna be the 5th - 6th seed. :lol I'll take the Celtics / Net / Pacers before y'all.
:lol

Quoted from way back. It baffles me how yall forget that the Pacers had the 4th best record last year. the disrespect smh
I see nothing about this Pacers squad even with the record they had last season and nothing good enough for me to think they'll become the 2nd best team in the East record wise.

They only got deeper, and the only contributor they lost was Collison. They added depth across the board, and as I previously stated had the 4th best record in the NBA last season. But for some reason they cant get their due respect even after adding DJ Augustine, Gerald Green, Ian Mahinmi, I dont see how they finish behind the Knicks, and dont end up with atleast the 3-4 seed in the East, considering Chicago wont be a factor this year

The Pacers should be regarded as an elite team especially because they proved it. Could they have been one-hit wonders? Sure. But they proved something and we should believe it until we see different.

On the other hand, the Knicks have yet to prove anything. They have all the talent they could want, but it hasn't come together, and they still have to prove that it will.

So for now everyone should assume the Pacers are an elite team (4th best in the entire NBA!) and the Knicks are a 6-7 seed until they show us otherwise.

so what exactly makes the pacers elite and how did they prove it? because they took miami to 6 games? was it there offense? avg 97 points per game for 13 best in the NBA, shot 43% from the field for 24th in the leauge which was also the worse from any team that made the playoffs. was it there defense? they gave up 94 points per game which was 10th best in the NBA and held teams to 43% shooting, there defense is very good but there offense sucks.

how can you call a team elite with no elite players on it? they dont even have a all star player on it. they got lucky that D12 got hurt so had a easy road in the 1st round and yall give them way to much credit for getting beat in 6 games vs miami

Any team that finishes in the top 5 in the NBA has to be an elite team. I'm not saying they are going to win a championship, but people are saying the Knicks are going to finish ahead of them which is asinine to me, considering that they finished ahead of 26 other teams, and have only got better

Pacers arent an "elite" team, they are a very good team.

3rd/4th seed this year, prob make it past the 1st in 6/7 games, and get bumped out in the 2nd.

They dont have an elite player / finisher and you need that in todays NBA.

Elite team by the fact that they were the 4th best team in the NBA and they were scary to play.

If you have a lot of critera of what an "elite" team is - and the Pacers didn't fit it - that's fine. I just assumed most people thought that way.

I think my only point is that they were close to being an elite team if not - a lot closer than the Knicks. No disrespect to most of the NYC fans, just the ones who say they'll be an elite team by default. The ECF is not just "Miami and everyone else."

I still got bulls vs heat in the ecf, and mavs vs okc in the wcf

Like I said before...

Until someone on the Pacers elevate their game to an elite level come playoff time, they won't have a chance to be one of the final two teams remaining in the East next season. The Pacers and Grizz are very similar, but Memphis has some players that have proven themselves in a playoff setting.

The reason why Memphis almost made the WCF in 2011 was because of ZBO playing at an elite level and Marc playing at an all-star level, on top of them having one of the best defenses in the West. The same thing would have to happen next season if they're going to make a deep run.

I'm interested in seeing who steps up for the Pacers because I don't see West or Hibbert doing it. George isn't good enough to do that. Granger is their only chance and it seems like his best seasons are behind him.

All it really takes is for one player to be great and for his supporting cast to be good.

Sorry but we can be talking about the Pacers and yall can reply to me with something about the Knicks all yall want to but a sentence with the words "Pacers" and "elite" in it aint gonna make sense to me unless the word "NOT" is in between them.

I'm completely fine with putting fandom aside and realizing the East just isn't that competitive and there's only 2 teams that are truly elite; MIA undeniably and BOS (since they're battle tested and have actually won but like every year since then they get older so they have to prove themselves again each season cuz it's only for so long a core of dudes pushing 40 can be elite). I would add in CHI but they look done and their FO is cheap.

Their record doesn't mean they're elite.

Elite teams are title contenders and I don't consider them contenders. A tough regular season match up and the first round of the playoffs, but that's it. Adding Augustin and Green isn't changing my mind either. Get a superstar, then we can talk.

Miami is the only elite team is the east

Celtics cause of rondo / PP / KG are a very good team, but have alot of new players and are another year older.

the rest of the east is just are on the verge of contenders for the most part.
