That is actually a trade that I think works well for ALL teams.

Bynum is the Center Philly needs. Howard, no need to explain. Gasol will not be in Orlando long and some team will give them picks/young players for him still. and Iggy to Denver is probably the best move. I think he fits into Karl's system.

McGee
Faried
Gallinari
Iggy
Lawson I like that starting 5. I think that trade make sense for all involved compared to the offers the Nets made.

As A L.A fan i want no part of AL. Unless we are getting back a few decent role players or good picks back in the trade. But pau for Al straight ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Not worth it at all for the Lakers. Harrington at this point in his career is solely a bench player. You can't give up two elite bigs for one and a role player. Orlando makes out like bandits having gone from possibly getting low end draft picks/prospects to Gasol and Afflalo. The Lakers team constituted is better before this deal.

This move has salary dump written all over it.

Good for Iggy? Maybe, sure. Good for Denver? Absolutely not. That starting 5 with Afflalo is better.

But Orlando wants that. Gasol has less leverage not being a free agent anytime soon. Why take Bynum to only move him again with uncertainty that he would resign. Let Philly take the Deron Williams risk on Bynum. A team will not trade for Bynum after already being traded like that. You would get nothing in return that way. At least for Gasol, some team will over pay since his contract is locked in.

I am sure all 29 other NBA teams would ask for Bynum too, but I like the Magic's thinking there especially if they commit to a full rebuild. Bynum would be to risky especially if he makes it known he wants Dallas.

Blazers - I think you will be happy. trust me. I think Iggy can play well in Karl's system. but I understand why you would not want him.

Can the Sixers even offer Bynum a big deal next year?

Not sure how much AI was getting.

Risky move by Philly.

Bynum may.

You never know. It is one thing to tell a player he is going to Houston or Orlando to play and then ends up in a city like Philly. I do not necessarily feel Iggy was important enough in Collins' system for them to make the playoffs last year. Add Bynum to that mix and they have a young team that can make the bottom half of the playoffs. Bynum may look at the situations and maybe the reports about Cleveland are true. Young team, PG on the verge of being Elite or Dallas as well. It is just a lot of factors with that guy.

Can he stay healthy???? He is still young but has he hit the point where he is healthy enough that at 24 he is playing at a rate of 28 year old due to those injuries maybe. You just don't know Especially being a big man.

your talking a window of Great play from him to about 30 years old and then he may breakdown again. IDK.

Iggy was just above 14 million I believe in his salary. Plus Finally Famous, they would have his rights so if they wanted to go over the cap they could. Big question is would the sixers management do so. Rod Thorn is still there making this deal. So he has to have some backing.

Hope this goes down...I'm doubtful but as a Sixers fan I'm PRAYING we get Bynum and this goes down

Don't like the idea of the Lakers getting rid of Gasol and replacing him with Al Harrington.
its not that the lakers are trading pau for al, its just that the lakers get the best piece in the trade, so they have to also get a below average/average piece as well to compensate for giving up bynum AND gasol

its like:

howard = 10pts

al = 6pts

bynum = 8pts

gasol = 8pts

so its sort of even in the end

Bird rights, you can offer your own player as much as you want.

and yawn, wake me up when this is actually done.

Wilson Chandler usually starts over Danilo

You get a very good defender in Iggy but how but lose scoring in Affalo, how does this help Denver? It's basically the same thing, a bunch of 2nd options with no number 1, Philly of the west minus 8 SFs?

Eric Pincus of HoopsWorld

"I really think more detail is needed - if Gasol can return Howard - then is there a more direct path with LA? I'd say probably not"

"For Howard, the Magic in theory would be getting Gasol and Afflalo. Does that mean there's a path to getting Howard without giving up Bynum to Magic? The Lakers would need to provide some sort of Afflalo equivalent which isn't easy. Also we don't know who Orlando would be dumping - and what picks they'd be getting. I don't think any of this is simple and black/white enough to jump to conclusions."
