Again, nobody knows the OPs situation, but MexicanSoul's comments were for the average 22-year-old. And he's not wrong at all.
Thank you.
He was wrong because he made the assessment without the dude even saying he put $15k down and financed the rest
For all we know,He coulda had an accident settlement, hit it big at a casino,etc..
Whenever these type of threads get made, the "what you should do" comments get made.... *@%% is dumb. Not everyone lives the same lifestyle or has the same goals.
Congrats on the car OP
...regardless if he put 15k or paid the whole thingoff...point is...at 22, in this day and age, there are far better ways to spend 15k and finance the other 20k on a vehicle. And anyone with common sense knowssplurging...given your assumption that what if he won a settlement, casino pot, etc...is the sure fire way to broke.
OP seems to have taken my comments as mere opinion/advice and never caught feelings like you butt hurt NTers who are bickering.
You got a good deal OP, again, congrats.

Lower in terms of what you pay is what you pay but the majority of car dealers could care less if you came with 40k cash or financed 40k...they get paid regardless. The bank is who makes money off your loan. andOriginally Posted by dendanskesimon
word to everyone: buy your stuff in cash. if you have the opportunity to save your money and buy it in cash you will not only get a lower price but save on interest. I realize almost every american lives on credit, but wouldnt you be much happier knowing you own everything in your possesion and no matter what happens you have a certain amount of security because you have no or very few payments to make on anything.to you being so young and already working on saving money. Credit is a double edged sword...be careful when using it.
Why you sweatin it bugsy? some of these dudes are just plain salty cause dudes young pushin a nice whip. NT likes to tell people how to spendtheir money like they some financial advisors, but then turn around n drop 5 bills on some shoes like its justifiable.Originally Posted by BugsyMF

Maybe YOUR situation wouldn't warrant a purchase like this, maybe his does.Originally Posted by MexicanSoul

and too fickle? just because I opposed what you said? you sound sensitive...
So you're 22, live at home but don't pay rent and you go out and buy a 35k dollar car? lol, you say " Having money to do things i enjoy, and having money to eat GOOD will always come first"..Of course they come first, but you won't have to worry about anything because your parents are your safety net.
. damn i thought you were koo from reading your earlierposts... but come on you act like i only got one bank account, or that i just spend money as one lump sum with no budget. In my head i have a budget and thereis food money, there is play money (clubs, parties, dates, movies...), there is new toy/clothes money(xbox, ps3, new shoes, clothes), there is money to makemore money, there is money for things such as batteries, chapstick, deodorant, and there is money for monthly payments. I did not save up my entire life for acar, I slowly saved up for one on the side. I got checking + savings bank account and an American express credit card, all of which are doing fine arguably.
If something were to happen to them tomorrow, you'd be $$$% out of luck.
If something were to happen to them tomorrow, I'd be $$$% full of money.at you for even causing me to say that.
You buying a car that expensive says you have no intentions of actually moving out and eventually being an independent adult anytime soon.
Some would argue that independently buying a new car is but one definitive act of being an independent adult. My family has had only one car (1995Toyota 4runner) that we have all shared over the past 14 years, so if i am to get where i am going in life, it is but a necessity to own a vehicle in which imay call my own and that i can knowingly have at my disposal 24/7-365. The only intentions of mine that the car being expensive shows is that i'm justtrying to get your girl to give a quick glance one time.
Mooching ftl.
Feeding myself and cooking my own steaks ftw!? you must put too much salt in yours.
You're setting yourself up for failure in the future.
Without a car it's gonna be tough to even get to FUTURE. but with various grants and financial aide (which i don't currently receivebut obviously i would if i moved out) and scholarships i got in high school, transferring to a state college from community college would not be that big afinancial setback. I think my parents might offer to still pay for my college tuition, but whether i accept the help or not, I don't think going to collegeis setting myself up for failure, and if you could believe it or not, my parents are crazy enough to even think it might lead to success.
I have been living pretty independently all my life. In elementary school i told all my relatives to only give me money for my birthday so i could havemoney to buy my own clothes because my parents would not buy me the clothes i wanted to wear. I was rocking cologne when my classmates was still rockin #@##stains.
Besides it doesn't take a rocket scientist to do some quick calculations on whether or not its possible to move out or not. If i transfer to San DiegoState i would stay in my boys condo down there and pay very minimum rent. If I go to Humboldt State, it costs next to nothing for housing up there so i'mall good. Add $600 to my monthly expensives give or take. If i go San Francisco State, well obviously i would just stay home because i don't know anyonewho moves out to go to a school thats only 3 min. away... but the plan is to move out when i transfer.
You're relying too much on your parents and one day you're going to have to learn the hard way.
The only thing i rely on my parents for is to not interfere in the way i choose to live my life and to trust that i know what is best for me. I ammildly ocd, stay up a all night, got tattoos, smoke weed, yet i am able to take care of myself and get myself the things i want without having to ask them forit. I have an optimistic outlook on life, have an overall happy/content mood, and refuse to sell out my morals for any reason. And truthfully it wasn'tthat hard of a thing to learn, I just had good child mentors.
You're 22, you should be thinking about become a mature repsonsible adult soon.
Thanks for the advice and for reminding me of my age. It's nice to know some people still truly care out there. Unfortunately, Dr's said iwas born with already too much responsibility, but not enough maturity, and that i may end up living the rest of my life with a mature hormone deficiency.
Nice try though... you thought you knew me, but i ain't the average sucker mc. Stop hating the player, start hating the game. If they have not already,I'm sure someone's gonna give you the wax on, wax off treatment real quick. word to karate kid.

(even if that is true you could easily have used that $15k and got a really decent used car and be paying nothing).
