Victor Cruz ‘looks faster now than ever before’ according to New York Giants teammate

New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz apparently feels amazing after recovering from a patellar injury that knocked him out of the 2014 season.

Teammate Prince Amukamara, speaking on his podcast (via NJ.com) said his teammate has definitely not lost a step:

“I trained with Cruz for one day down in Arizona—and he just came in for a day because he was in town—and I’m telling you, this guy looked fab . . . I’m telling you. Remember that I said this. This guy looks faster now than he did before.”

Amukamara did admit he could be mistaken but reiterated: “He looks so good, so polished. He does not look like he missed a step.”

If this is indeed the case, then the Giants will be very difficult to defend through the air. Odell Beckham Jr. and Cruz together, along with Rueben Randle and former Dallas Cowboy Dwayne Harris comprise a dynamic group capable of stretching defensive secondaries to the point of breaking.

Cruz has always been able to get past cornerbacks for the deep bomb, but his specialty—what made him so explosive—was his ability to take a five-yard slant 70 yards to paydirt. Before his injury, which was brutal, he utilized great burst and change of direction to avoid would-be tacklers on his way to big yardage.

Many have wondered if he’d still possess these same qualities after suffering such a devastating injury. If Amukamara isn’t full of hot air, then the diminutive receiver will soon be doing his famous salsa dance celebration, much to the chagrin of the poor defenders who thought they could stop him.

Texans defensive end J.J. Watt calls training camp “the greatest”

J.J. Watt really loves football. Actually, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year loves football so much that he eagerly awaits training camp.

Even at a young age, players don’t always look forward to the summer session. However, the Houston Texans defensive end shared a different perspective, as noted by Drew Dougherty of the team’s official website:

“Training camp’s the greatest. Because it’s a chance for you to try new moves. Try new things. See what’s successful, see what’s not.”

Houston will again heavily rely on Watt to lead the defense, especially because it placed Jadeveon Clowney on the physically unable to perform list.

The No. 1 overall pick of the 2014 draft, Clowney has battled through injuries since entering the NFL. He could return at any time, but Watt is a constant in the lineup—and a constant force.

Watt racked up 20.5 sacks and 51 hits last season, so it’s somewhat scary to think the 6’5″, 289-pounder can improve his pass-rushing arsenal.

Since the Wisconsin product boasts tremendous strength and quickness, Watt could be adding a variety of finesse-focused or strength-powered moves. He’s already a versatile player, but another offseason likely allowed Watt to become more dangerous at multiple spots.

And that should terrify opposing coaches.

Could fantasy football eventually lead to the decline of the NFL?

Team loyalty in the NFL is a sacred bond between fan and franchise that has, for decades, been unassailable for many Americans. The bond is growing weaker as a new generation emerges, however, and as player culture begins to dominate.

Raised on the addictive sport of fantasy football, this new generation is learning that player loyalty offers more immediate satisfaction than rooting for a team does. The thrill of victory and agony of defeat can now be felt on a daily basis, thanks to the advent of daily fantasy sites like DraftKings and Fan Duel.

No more waiting for the long season to run its course. Heck, you don’t even need to wait from Thursday to Monday any more.

One day of action…and then the next.

It’s no wonder the two emerging entertainment giants just combined to raise $575 million in funding during the month of July, according to Eric Fisher of SportsBusiness Journal:

The $575 million in funding for DraftKings and FanDuel this mo tops all prior funding in fantasy sports, inc companies’ own rounds.

— Eric Fisher (@EricFisherSBJ) July 27, 2015

America has found its new sports obsession.

And as we all know, when something new comes on the scene something old must die.

The thing that is fading is team allegiance, as previously mentioned. Young men and women, boys and girls, are beginning to root for players rather than for teams. To them, the uniform isn’t sacred.

Many gasped when San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick dared display a Miami Dolphins hat.

Goodell upholds the 4 game suspension based on Brady not cooperating throughout the process.

Brady takes the case to Federal Court arguing that Goodell shouldn't have acted as his arbitrator.

Federal Court abates the case and suspension until next off-season.

Patriots vs. Packers in Super Bowl 50.

Federal Court case resumes and judge finds that Goodell shouldn't have acted as arbitrator and lifts the 4 game suspension.

Brady retires after winning his 5th Super Bowl and the Jimmy G era begins.

Time to earn that check Jeff Kessler...

*nvm, thought you were breaking news :lol

NFL says that in destroying his phone Brady kept them from being able to access 10,000 potential text messages

LIFETIME BAN.

Regarding NFL decision to uphold Brady suspension, here is league statement:

In the opinion informing Brady that his appeal had been denied, Commissioner Goodell emphasized important new information disclosed by Brady and his representatives in connection with the hearing.

On or shortly before March 6, the day that Tom Brady met with independent investigator Ted Wells and his colleagues, Brady directed that the cell phone he had used for the prior four months be destroyed. He did so even though he was aware that the investigators had requested access to text messages and other electronic information that had been stored on that phone. During the four months that the cell phone was in use, Brady had exchanged nearly 10,000 text messages, none of which can now be retrieved from that device. The destruction of the cell phone was not disclosed until June 18, almost four months after the investigators had first sought electronic information from Brady.
Based on the Wells Report and the evidence presented at the hearing, Commissioner Goodell concluded in his decision that Brady was aware of, and took steps to support, the actions of other team employees to deflate game footballs below the levels called for by the NFL's Official Playing Rules. The commissioner found that Brady’s deliberate destruction of potentially relevant evidence went beyond a mere failure to cooperate in the investigation and supported a finding that he had sought to hide evidence of his own participation in the underlying scheme to alter the footballs.

this is a great day in NFL history

Now we get to hear all the arm chair lawyers on how Brady is taking this to court.

Great job Mr. Goodell, I'm actually surprised.

I mean it's not like most high profile player suspensions haven't gone to court right?

If it's true that he destroyed the evidence (phone) he'll be one big dummy to go to court. I'm sure his lawyers wouldn't mind the cash though.

It's only 4 games.

Heard on the radio this took extra days because of the literature. Didn't want any loopholes for Brady's team to try and find. They were very cautious with this in case they need to go to court.

@GaryParrishCBS: Any man who once left his pregnant girlfriend for a supermodel is probably experienced in destroying cell phones. So I’m hardly surprised.

Tom Brady & NFLPA will see the NFL in court. 2 options: fast-track it with an injunction or slow-play, keep it going until after the season
