Bettis had a 3.9 ypc in his career. I think he's the only person in the top 10 in rushing with a below 4.0 ypc average

No.  Is he in yours?

And look how long Tim Brown had to wait to get in...  Not to mention the other waiting list of true greats.

So is it now about how long he had to wait?

Brown should've been in sooner, no doubt

His last years caused that with his short yardage work. That's what should keep him out? :lol

If the Hall was truly what it could be, I'd agree he shouldn't be in. But the players that are in there and the precedent set, you are a fool if you think he wasn't going in

Hines next? :hat

If ben doesn't belong in the hall why the hell is aikman in it?

Big Ben >>> Terry Bradshaw

He's a HOFer in my eyes

That's definitely part of him being overrated because he's a Steeler and a created media personality, yes.  IMO he shouldn't be in at all but it's crazy to be inducted with almost the minimum possible wait.

This is a guy who averaged 1050 yards and 7 TDs per year.  Basically "just a guy" stats.

i lean to yes on Ben. he's one of those guys that was never best QB in the league but always in the top few. what you said about the bus reminded me of ben, so thought i'd ask
I think he's a clear jersey retirement/team ring of honor guy but not what I see as a HOFer.  A hall of famer should at least have some truly superlative achievements on the resume imo.

Until last year I don't remember Ben ever being looked at as a top QB

He had years as the number 5 guy (in discussions) after the usual Peyton, Tom, Drew, Aaron.

Can't remember who was the fourth guy before Aaron heated up

Very good chance Ben gets in as well. Just prepare yourself now
Hell, he probably will.  NFL would probably induct Rooney's dog into the hall of fame if he asked them to.

Do you think Bettis gets in if he plays on the Seahawks, the Cardinals, the Titans, the Ravens, etc.?  I don't think there's even the slightest possibility.

Speculation, I have no idea. If I had to guess, yes if he was on Baltimore.

Does it bother you that he got in?

really? after the usual four...who was consistently ahead of ben?

I get where 100027 is coming from in a situation where the Bus gets in yet people laugh at Shaun Alexander's Hall candidacy...

As a lifelong Seahawks fan the media fawn-fest & league politics over the Packers, Rooneys, and the Maras has always bothered me.

I think there are more deserving players left out in the cold.  I don't think it's fair a guy like Tim Brown had to wait so long to get in because Al Davis (who really did some amazing things) wasn't one of the NFL's babies.

Al Davis really was a pioneer

Favre, Romo, Rivers, Kurt Warner, Trent Green probably in there. Big Ben went from serviceable to good to now above average, but he was really average as a Q up until just a few seasons ago.
