prolific passing :hat

doesn't Stafford have like the most 4th quarter comebacks or something like that the past few years

Pretty sure Romo has the most 4th quarter comebacks/ game winning drives since 2011 and also since 2006 with 28.

Never said Stafford was in Marinos class

The league numbers can be taken 2 ways

You could say Marino feasted because Shula was innovative enough to open up his offense to accommodate Marino's talents when other quarterbacks were stuck in run first offenses

Also the coverages were less complex in 1984..No exotic blitzes or combo coverages. Just man or zone..no pre snap adjustments.

The NFL eventually caught up and Marino never had a season where he was close to being that efficient again

The rules make it somewhat easier to pass for more yards now but the defenses are exponentially more complex than they were in the 1980s

Every era in the NFL has its pros and cons

Every time I see us giving QB's in the past the benefit of the doubt due to it being a different league, not saying it isn't warranted, but I always think about what Seattle's defense is doing. We should give them the benefit of the doubt then.

Are they solidified as the greatest defense of all time?

Seattle's secondary might be the best I've ever seen. They also have a great coaching staff, Pete has done very well. Not sure if overall their defense is one of the best or if the secondary is just that good.

Seattle's defense is legendary. Best I've seen.

They allowed 6.5 points per game over the last six weeks of the season. :x

76 Pitt (IMO) ut they are a top ten all time already and can climb

Hard thing with defense is some take 1 year, some take multiples with the same unit. Offense is almost always viewed as just one year

guess the bears, steelers and dolphins top defenses before this decade were inferior as well.
that Giants defense that won two super bowls was super complex too right? too difficult for Chuck Noll's small brain to understand.
The Seahawks are once in a lifetime defense right now... you cannot compare them and their coaching staff to Anyone, Ever. You can however compare say... almost everyone else.
there is way too much to dissect in your post dude... you just are the worst poster in here, I'm 99% certain you do it on purpose. is what it is.

"The game is so much more complex now," Kurt Warner said. "The complexity of the schemes and the zone coverage makes it tougher. And then you have adjustments in coverage (pre-snap). Not to take away from what Dan did -- everyone knows he was a great player -- but he got a lot more man coverage, 'My guy is better than your guy' big plays."

Defenses started to adjust to Shula’s offense. They learned from the 49ers’ championship strategy and dropped more and more defensive backs into coverage to prevent the deeper routes
