OFFICIAL NFL OFFSZN THREAD 2023-24: R.I.P Jacoby Jones

Felt inevitable as soon as they went with 17 games

Hope the players can get concessions in the process, like a 2nd bye week, better revenue share for players and a shorter preseason

They need guaranteed contracts if they’re tryna do all that.

Not sure if they can negotiate that until the CBA is up but yes, that's the next big step for players long term

Exactly. Dudes sign a 5 year, 160 mill deal with 110 in total guarantees. Why can’t they just sign a deal for $110 - $130 fully guaranteed? Makes absolutely no sense

Not going to happen. Guaranteed contracts would require having billions in escrow. Having 300M+ just chillin is a tall ask for any owner. NFL would need to change its ownership rules to allow for larger ownership groups, private equity firms, foreign investors, etc. to have that much cash on hand year after year.

The vetting and reconciling conflicts of interest headaches aside… The good ole boys club wants to remain an exclusive club.

Probably need to expand roster sizes and cut the game day eligibility too

Just add the practice squad guys to the game day roster which would then become 67. And allow an extra 3-5 practice squad players who don’t dress out
