The leather and build quality on these adidas Artillery Lites are so good for half the price no less, if only the Command Forces had that quality I wouldn't have passed them up.
Wow. I need that Adidas.
Why was every shoe out then better than ANYTHING out now?

I blame Nike's BETTER WORLD (environment-friendly) initiative. That is, Being "green" means better land use, which means less grazing, which means less cattle, which means less leather (or that leather is now much more expensive).

But what do I know...

As dope as they are these aren't on par with the command force IMO Also while I really respect Adidas for usually doing right by Retros I've had major problems with my Rivalry retro and my 80s superstar retro. I purchased 4 seperate pairs of the white grey rivalry and they all came with severely smashed toe boxes. Then my 80s superstar retro from this year started to seperate after one wear, ONE lol none of the brands quality is blow away anymore but these commands are pretty good

Because you probably grew up with it. Just like how you think the music from your generation is better than what's out now and people from the previous generation have the same feeling about what they came up with.  Also shoes had a more "form over function" thing in the 90s.

Sux that you've had bad experiences with Adidas products recently. I've made the switch to Adidas for the bulk of my purchases over the years because of the decline of Nike quality. All the Adidas I've purchased have been bullet proof and held up quite well. The Kazuki Kuraishi Adidas have been especially well executed.

The pre-crumpled toe box on the pleather that someone posted on the last page especially turned me off of these Command Forces, even though I love this shoe.

This should be unacceptable and shouldn't have made it pass quality control. From what I've read, there's a lot of quality issues with this shoe.

Are you sure about that? Just take a look at a Lebron shoe and say its all function over form. The amount of cladding, clear sole, branding, patterning, etc....

Almost every part of todays shoes is some kind of "technology/innovation" flyknit, hyperfuse, flywire, max air, zoom air, carbon fiber, etc. Can you really look at the Lebron 12 and tell me that shoe is more about style and design than all these stupid new advancements they're making in shoe science? Back in the day you had an air unit and **** tons of leather with an absurd amount of ankle padding and they used design elements to make it look good. Its easy to see in the Jordan line how it seemed like aesthetics were the main focus but they still had performance components from the time period but as time went on, basketball shoes in general just started to look more aggressive and more catered for the court.

are these not available in size 14?? I see sizes up to 13 then 15 but every site isnt listing 14.

Tempted to go with a 13 but not sure, really want to get those billy hoyles

I can absolutely tell you that a Lebron shoe is all about form AND function.

The reason that they used all that leather was because there were no better materials on the market that offered durability, flexibilty, and comfort.  That was the height of shoe technology back then.

To argue that shoes from the 90s are all about form instead of function and today's sneaker are all about function is a very narrow viewpoint.

Lebron shoe is function over form? Gimme a break.

Nike is good at the technology "function" thing, but they spend a ton of money on how to make that technology LOOK COOL, too. Don't tell me that the six separate zoom air pads on the Lebron 12 is purely functional. Why are they hexagonal? Nothing in my foot anatomy matches to hexagonal shapes. Those shapes are pure form (or manufacturing limitations). Not to mention that each hexagon is a different color... nothing to do with function.

Maybe Flywire is a real technical innovation, but to me it just LOOKS COOL. Does it really help the average customer? See what I mean... real good marketers at work here! "Let's invent a technology that we can use to make an analogy to suspension bridges, and our customers will think they can jump higher and run faster with this on their feet."

No-sew construction may be technically superior, but Nike sells it as Hyperfuse -- even the naming of this feature is form over function.

For anyone wondering about sizing, these fit on the small side because of the extra padding in the heel/collar. I went a .5 up in size.
