For casual wear the fit isn't a biggie to me as long as the comfort is there. No lock down necessary.
But man, if a person intends to wear these for performance you'd probably need to double up on socks and choke the hell out of the laces and even then there still might be some heel slippage.

Just got my pairs, one in my true size and 1/2 down, and I can confirm that these fit big. Best fit for me is to go 1/2 down like the retros of the past.
