Wrong.  Knowing how websites work, I had over 15 tabs across 3 browsers running and I intelligently refreshed and cleared my cache when necessary.  No luck at all was involved with my approach, and I came out with two pairs.

I explained everything a while ago, but people didn't seem to take notice.  Do yourselves all a favor and learn a bit about how web applications function and you'll see how everything makes sense.

Guess this a question for computer science majors but why do certain url's work for some and not for others. Moreover, how does the site crash for me immediately as I proceed to checkout but others made it through before the crash? I selected my size for the Plat's only as soon as the link dropped, definitely under 30 seconds or so.

Frustrating, I really thought the stars were aligned for me considering the other great things that happened for me this weekend

. I was going to rock these all summer.... I've been on NT since 2000 and a consumer of Nike since 97, where art thou sneaker gods

I know the reason why its showing. I pulled it up and its there just can't add to cart i have a guess why too but i cant share -- also dont know if they page will be valid to add to cart if they return to stock they might make a new page and this will still show out of stock. To answer the question about the why the site crashed -- Simple the servers couldnt handle the traffic. When you type in nike.com a request is made to a server to send you the information you requested. When 2 many requests are made the server gets jammed up and times-out aka white page/lagging -- To offset the jamming nike routed most of the people to a maintenance page making your transaction void. When you refreshed you also might lost your loading place in line which brings me to the checkout part.

For nike to place a hold on your sneakers you need to be at STEP 2 of the checkout (PAYMENT OPTION AFTER CLICKING THE NEXT BUTTON) that means hitting the next button at the shipping information @ step 1-- Many people got to the shipping information and got jammed up cause of the server lagg when they went to the payment screen which means -- YOU DO NOT HAVE A HOLD because the server didn't get your info so what your seeing in your cart isnt really there cause the server never got a hold place request -- So when you got to your cart after everything was cool the sneakers were removed cause according to the server you never got to STEP 2 cause of the lagg and timeouts-- NIKE DIDNT REMOVE YOUR SNEAKERS the server never got the info that you made it to the checkout payment part. People that got to the payment screen because they either reloaded or it just went through for them with no routed maintenance screen -- are the ones that have a hold.

I don't know what nike will do with the rest of the sneakers they have -- im sure there are some stuck in limbo and either will be restocked back to the site or nike will just pull everything and ship to stores. I hope they do the NDC but just by them pulling the link i doubt it.

Hope that helped some of you guys understand why your sneakers were not in the cart. Me for 1 was confused i thought after you got to the checkout page STEP 1 you got your pair held -- sadly not the case.

SO ARE YOU SAYING THAT EVEN IF YOU MADE IT TO THE STEP 2 PAYMENT SCREEN, YOU STILL WON'T HAVE A HOLD?

WHEN THE LINK WENT UP I CLICKED IT, ADDED A 10.5 TO MY CART, CLICKED ON CHECKOUT, GOT TO THE STEP 1 SHIPPING PAGE, THEN CLICKED NEXT TO GET TO THE STEP 2 PAYMENT PAGE. I WAS ABLE TO DO ALL THIS WITHOUT ANY ISSUES. AFTER ENTERING MY CREDIT CARD INFO I HIT PROCEED AND THEN THE SITE CRASHED ON ME. ISN'T STEP 2 WHERE THE HOLD SHOULD BE? ALSO, THERE WERE PEOPLE WHO MADE IT TO STEP 3 AND THE SHOES WERE STILL REMOVED.

I DID ALL THIS LOGGED INTO MY ACCOUNT ON MY IPAD BY THE WAY. YOU SEEM TO KNOW  A GOOD AMOUNT ABOUT HOW THIS WORKS. MAYBE YOU CAN ENLIGHTEN SOME OF US.

I know how coding works and its what i believe i could be wrong. Lets say nike had 1000 pairs and 2000 people got to the payment screen with it in their carts its whoever gets the info to the server first -- So people could be at the review order screen but if the shoes are sold out before you got to the payment step 2 screen then you are SOL. Just because you got to the STEP 2 screen doesnt mean you got a pair on hold the server checks how many pair are in stock or on hold already if your at the payment screen and all pairs are accounted for then you wont get a pair.

Thats how i would code the sytem if i were to code it -- Just my guess but i think thats how it happened -- In simple terms if you made it to the STEP 2 Payment screen and all shoes are taken already they cant give you a hold they dont got to give.

What I did that worked for me after I 'Timed out" I opened mutiple browsers and went to Nike store and they all showed something in my cart...2 actually a sz11 and 10.5 both in the Solar red, anywho I kept refreshing hitting the back button(Click happy) untill it allowed me to get to the check out screen again I naturally tried to check out with both but said I had too many so I reluctantly removed the 10.5 hopeing it didnt remove them both but it did just drop the sz10.5 then I was able to enter my CC info and complete the order. who know where that sz10.5 went.

I'm just hoping that there will be size 10.5's left when all the resellers start to realize people aren't buying for $2000.

For clarity, clearing your own browser's cache has NOTHING to do with what information Nike's server has about your activity.

Gotcha, I tried doing the same thing, but I think I was simply too late by the time it all went down.

THIS MAKES SENSE.

MY QUESTION WOULD BE TO THE WEB DESIGNER IS:

ONCE ALL HOLDS ARE GIVEN, WHY ALLOW ANYONE ELSE TO MAKE IT TO THE PAYMENT SCREEN? WHY NOT WRITE THE CODE TO BLOCK ALL REQUESTS TO GET TO THAT PAGE AFTER ALL THE HOLDS ARE GIVEN?

EXACTLY.

Everyone claiming that Nike had removed their pair from the cart were either:

1. Not logged into the NIKE account WHILE placing the order.

2. Not actually on the PAYMENT screen (Step 2 — not that shipping detail screen)

Some folks also made the mistake of trying to checkout the pair they had in their carts way too quickly. I knew for a fact that the servers were indeed going to go down while I was placing my order so I made sure I kept my screen on STEP 2 the entire time and didn't even bother placing the order which is why my pair were legitimately put on hold.

And that's what happened to my Usain Bolt $#@.

did you see that letter from nike that somebody just put up? "don't clear your browsers cache and cookies or you will lose you cart hold."

Don't act like every shoe out there is $2,000, the majority I see are well over that mark as it is.

all you guys that are getting an email from ndc letting you know your pair is on hold....did you have to contact nike for?

That's exactly what they do -- They don't block you but they remove the items from your cart or put up a message saying its sold out. Sometimes the server lagg interferes with that process though letting you slip by without a message.

Its more than a shoe. IDC. I even considering dropping 1k on these. I wish i could just say .... "its just a shoe, its nothing i'll buy something else."

No i cant do it.

its hard

Real hard.

Why are people still complaining 2 days after the drop? Guys you live and learn. You win some and lose some, get on with it.. So you'll get the next "limited super duper pair"

It's like common sense, too.
Everyone in the world is saying they made it to the payment screen. But unfortunately, there weren't enough Yeezy 2's for everyone in the world so for everyone claiming they made it to the payment screen, while logged into their Nike accounts ("right when Nike tweeted it"), just know that 178237182379123 more people probably beat you to that same step and the server processed theres before yours during the slow down. Sucks, but that's likely just what happened.
