Kind of random but if I ran an online mom n pop shoe boutique and got limited releases I would handle it like this:
At a totally random day and time before the release I would send out a tweet to my followers that the first 50 (depending on how many pairs I get) people to reply (with a dm) with their name and size have a shot at purchasing a pair. It would be limited to 1 pair per customer. Say I only have 20 pairs to sell, I would then use a automated random name picking program select 20 out of the 50 names to purchase. If a name got picked and that size is no longer available I would delete that entry and move on to the next. After all winners are determined I would dm the winners with a specific time and private link set up for their specific size they dm'ed me. The name provided must match their billing and shipping info. This would give people a fair chance, and limit bots or resellers from buying 3,4,5 etc pairs.
