Can't even lie, there's plenty of times where people ask what i have on and I tell them I can't be giving away my secrets

When I would cop some of my splits from in here from yall, I used to gatekeep heavy when asked what I was wearing

Then it seemed like every cologne enthusiast on social media started listed some of the gems as “must haves”

I mean, not everyone gotta be privy to what I’m on. I’d never lie, but given whole names, and where to buy it from etc, is none of anyone’s business.

Part of the joy is sharing info with other enthusiasts.

Fragrance influencers have really ruined the game. Wholesalers too. Remember when Amouage was actually exclusive? They have $500 bottles released and within 12 months it’s at discounters for $150, for the masses.

Just a weird game we’re in right now. The art is lost.

I don't gate keep at all. When I was working in the office women would ask what I was wearing all the time. They're not paying retail for Naxos or Jubilation 25 and they don't trust grey market sellers either. Once a co-worker really took a liking to Layton Exclusif so I gave her a decant that I didn't finish to give to her husband. He told her she was being disrespectful lol.

If people ask I’ll put em on. But like y'all said the average person isn’t paying anywhere near what retail is for niche fragrances and they don’t know about discounters.

Now there’s a few I ain’t giving away lol. Hypnotizing Fire, D&G Velvet Desert Oud, and Sedley they’re gonna have to figure those out on their own lol.

I'm an outlier in this thread because I rarely wear new colognes. Truth be told I've been wearing Polo Sport, Tommy and Crush Curve since like the 90s (I'm washed).

But this year I wanted to try a new cologne and that's difficult because I'm picky as ****. I got a bunch of small envelopes and went to the mall and got samples. I put each sample that I was interested in in a different envelope with the name on it. Then I went outside in the fresh air and smelled each separately. Then I took the 3 best home and smelled them again the next day. That narrowed it down. That's the one I bought.
