Official NT dad thread: can the dads get love

My 16-yo son has grown up (and is still VERY MUCH into) DBZ, Pokémon, Sonic, & Beyblades.
I probably know 5 thinks about each. 😂
.
.
Actually... now that I think about it...
I probably should have paid attention more.
😬🫠🙃
I know there are quite a few young NT dads on here that ask for advice.

Put energy into being into your kids' ****; don't just put energy into teaching, guiding, and molding.
My son is also 16 and he’s big into anime as well..Matter of fact I took him today and he got his first tattoo and it’s of some symbols from Naruto..Indont really know much about anime but I try my best to listen when he talks about it and ask questions. Like you said, just put the energy in to what your kid likes. You don’t have to be an expert but they’ll appreciate it so much that you at least seem engaged..

Meh, two things can be right at once.

It can absolutely be a beautiful message and an attention whoring moment all at once.
Absolutely. So then one's response helps provide a glimpse into what they choose to focus on.

Sure it does. I wouldn't go too far into judging the person based on their response however. You never know what someone is going through/deal with.

I wish I lived a life that allowed me to see the good/positive in everything. Unfortunately, I have not lived such a life.

lol. Not gona front these vids are cringe as fuh. Acting like you want an extra star for doing what you HAVE to do. Leave that **** for the moms bruh
Online content is shared so that others can relate and hopefully follow the actions in the content, or to get likes/follows/props.
How do you personally decide if it's the 1st one or the 2nd one?

Seeing the good/positive in everything is toxic positivity. Eff that.

Understandable. Even commendable. But you did see that video earlier and you commented on it. Nothing wrong with that, but I'm curious:

If there's theme music/theatricals and all that jazz. Making money of their kids with ig, YT ..etc. it's annoying.
As a youth mental health worker for 20 years I've seen parents do the most craziest things for attention and it's never cute

Gotcha. I agree with your standard (theatrics), but for some reason, I didn't view this one through the same cynical lens you did. (Side note: I'm not trying to say you're wrong and I'm right, not at all.)
I think the reason I was more open to this one is because in my personal life, online and in my community, I'm a huge advocate for dads. I love the sentiment behind that video.

I didn’t mean to start all that, this is after all a positive thread. I’m not sure why I immediately recognized it as fake. I guess it’s hard to know what’s real and fake on social media.

Having your entire kids life behind lenses 24/7 for the whole world to see is fd up. Some of these kiddos are forced to consent. You don't know what's real or fake.
I got got 1 time believing a daughter coming home to her military dad video. Swear that **** was authentic then find out it was fake

damn. after my last post talking about yelling at my kid about his math homework, he got his report card today and it’s 2 Bs and an A and an outstanding in orchestra. this is actually really good cause he goes to probably the hardest (or second) school in the state. all his teachers say he’s a really good kid too. i gotta chill out dudes.

Or maybe your high expectations keep him on the right path.

I dunno. I've always struggled with determining the right approach. Really becomes about who you are as a person and being that best version as a parent, imo.

Like I said, I dunno. What I do know is this is a challenge.

You good fam, good job to lil man! remember yelling at my elder 2 kids cuz they don't wanna take liquid meds when sick lol. I was hot, Even got 7up as a chaser. Got more patient and smarter with younger ones.

Nah, I'm glad you brought it up. It was a nice convo you brought up. Thoughts being challenged and people disagreeing with no hard feelings or disrespect is what needs to happen more online. 🔥

Mother’s Day is coming up and our first kid is due on May 2nd. I want to get some ideas about what are some great gifts for first time mothers

Also what do you guys think about push gifts? Lol

I got my wife a ring to go on her other hand that compliments her wedding band and engagement ring when she gave birth to my first born (daughter).

I didn't get her jack when she gave birth to my son though.....:rofl:

10 days after the baby is born? she’ll probably want a nap for mother’s day. thinking back, my wife was kinda crazy both times after the baby was born. she just needed lots of love, support, and my patience.

my daughter is entering kindergarten this fall. we went through the same agony that we went through with my son. applied/tested for a bunch of schools. she’s by far not as advanced as my son was so it was a nice surprise to see she got accepted into a great school. the problem is that it’s a different school from her brother and i’m the one that does drop off and pick up 😔

I got my wife an Apple Watch as a push gift. Game changer for her.
