Official NY Knicks 2021 preseason

the biggest problem with Melo is that folks wanted him to be something he wasnt. he's a pure scorer, thats it. the expectation for him to be like Bron was stupid and unrealistic. the 2013 team was the only one built similarly to the ones that were successful in denver. not once did we put together a legitimate roster around him after that. imagine swapping early 2010s Melo for Randle today. instead we gave him smoked out Phil Jackson and Andrea Bargnani.

a lot of bad decisions from amnesty chauncey, trading for bargs, hiring phil, not trading shump for lowry, hiring fitz over bud... not going to talk about the missed first round draft picks lol...

The Knicks demise was not a hindsight thing ... it was well written when they put all their chips to chase a Lebron. Once Lebron decided to make a superteam the Knicks overpay by a long margin for Stat.

Stat was already battling injuries and there where concerns by most teams about his durability. The Knicks panic move was the start of many bad moves.

They double down on trading every asset and future assets for a player that could of have been had during FA but again, because of Stats health they tried to speed the process ...

And so on .....

So yeah not 20/20 IMO! Everyone saw it coming, we didn't expect for it to be that freaking bad.

i like that RJ gets right to working on his weaknesses in the offseason. he was a horrendous shooter in his rookie year and then came back and shot 40% last year. sophomore year he needed to work on his off the dribble game, and lo and behold it seems like that's what he was doing prior to that pick up game clip. he might not have the flash of Ja or Zion, but dude puts in the work. having Randle might actually be a blessing for his growth bc it doesnt force him to be THE guy just yet. he's been the 2nd/3rd option which has allowed him to work on his game organically.
