OFFICIAL NYk '22 offseason thread, RJ extended

Too much low IQ basketball.
Bad rotations on defense.
Thibs sticking with favorites too long.
Randle not playing within the offense.

It’s early but these kinda things are things you need to address sooner rather than later. And I wonder how many of these issues are actually fixable.

Another thing is Mitch. Adding all that weight was something I was concerned about. What made him standout defensively was his foot speed. He can’t cover as much ground now, he covered more slip ups on the perimeter than people give him credit for.

This is the originator of the “Bing Bong” catchphrase. He was using it in Spring.

This is slight fire.

He also said he was going to give the dude who used “Bing Bing” a fresh one

Miles turner shot 7-10 for 3FG.

The Knicks as a team only made 5 3FG

Pacers took 91 FG and we took 87.

We lost the game because Miles Turner made all those 3's and we didn't. It's really nothing to be concerned about TBH.

isnt bing bong just the dude making the intro sound to the video?

Yea but this rapper has done Sidetalk videos before, he started saying it and then put out a record.

Supposedly he’s going to release a Knicks Remix version

Whoa, I go to Mermaid Avenue sometimes since it nears my home. Dope

Pacers shot light out and we didn't. Simple as that.

No need to panic...yet.

definitely no need to panic, but our perimeter defense has downgraded pretty significantly from last year. Randle has also not been playing like the "all-nba" star he was made out to be. IQ is hitting that sophomore slump, which i hope he gets out of, bc he used to hit timely 3s for us.

on the flip side, i like what i'm seeing from RJ and Obi. RJ wants to guard the opposing team's best wing and has been doing pretty well at it. his scoring and aggressiveness on offense is up too. Obi looks more confident out there and continues to attack. we'll be aight.

I wonder does zone defense work well against a lineup that uses a stretch big

I remember Coach Nurse used that zone defense when the Raps faced the Bucks & the Sixers in the playoffs

Well, we did let go of Payton and Bullock who were above average perimeter defenders, for guys who are better offensive players. This is why our 3pt% has gone up and we're top 5 in the league.

Because we left them open just like we left the raptors open. Permitted defense is a concern at the moment.

This is going to be an ongoing issue moving forward. Right now, we just do not have the personnel fit to fill that hole. What we can do however, is focus on not allowing anything easy around the basket. The league has seemed to let players play more physically this year. We need to adjust and take advantage.

We suck when we can’t hit our 3s. Huge red flag.

Most teams have this same issue. The league has gotten so dependent on the 3, they forgot other ways to score. But I do think we need to find better ways to get easier buckets. Randle is a Hell of a player, but he takes some of the toughest shots out there. Sure, they go in for him, but it's like pulling teeth when they don't fall.

We need a better offensive philosophy, and this has been Thibbs' issue since day 1, even back when he was with the Bulls. He's not THAT type of coach.

I notice that Knicks often allow teams to get big runs to gain their lead or cut Knicks' lead immediately after timeouts. They need to fix that part

It really annoys me how that man has seemingly normalized Box-1 zone defenses in the modern NBA.
