Official Oakland Athletics 2012 Season Thread (94-68) AL WEST CHAMPIONS

On the bright side, even though we were swept, we're still tied for a wildcard spot. I wish I would have saw the 20-2 beat down of the Red Sox. I was in Vegas over the weekend. It sucks that we were swept. Hopefully the A's can bounce back against King Felix.

Reddick needs to hit further back in the lineup. He's too hot headed and it doesn't help him focus to find the right pitch when he has runners on.

HUGE series. This is the beginning of a very difficult stretch. Let's get off too a good start fellas.

Gotta play better defense. :{ Offense needs to get something rolling. Also, I don't like when Carter isn't in the lineup, he struggles when he doesn't play consistently.

I was busy watching the Raider game, but supremely excited about the A's getting the W. Still at the top of the wildcard.

How worried should we be about the O's, Rays, and Angels?

We should be very worried this is an exciting next. 23 games of all the teams in the hunt I think we have the toughest remaining schedule but I'm glad the A's could get a w since my raiders were so pathetic tonight

The way I'm looking at it:

22 games left.

We have a 3-game cushion in the loss column on a playoff spot.

3 games over Tampa.

4 games over Anaheim.

Detroit is done as far as the WC goes...

If we go 12-10, we should be good.

That means that Tampa would have to go 15-7 just to force a tie-breaker.

That means that Tampa would have to go 16-6 to beat us outright without a tie-breaker.

That means that Anaheim would have to go 16-6 to force a tie-breaker.

That means that Anaheim would have to go 17-5 to get our WC spot without a tie-breaker.

Anaheim has an easier schedule. The A's can stick a dagger in the Angels if we can take 2 out of the next 3. That would put Anaheim 5 behind us and eliminate two games off the schedule.

It just looks like we are in for an interesting month of baseball.

Today's game has gone pretty well. I wasn't too worried until Straily gave up the shot to Torii Hunter, and was finally taken out of the game. We're in the late innings and it feels like Anaheim has a bit of momentum. The crowd is really trying to get behind the team right now. They're attempting to manufacture runs in the bottom of the 8th, but they couldn't do nada.

Here comes the 9th.

I take back everything negative I have ever said about Blevins for at least today. :lol WOW. I seriously thought we were going to blow this game and that would have been heartbreaking. Once the leadoff hitter got on, I knew this game was going to get interesting. I honestly haven't been that nervous watching an A's game since 2006. :lol Just amazing. :hat

Member is right, if we win this series the Angels are done. If we win two of the next three series' after this one I think we've got a playoff spot guaranteed.

11 straight road wins. 81 wins. If we went .500 this year I would have been shocked. :lol Let's keep it going fellas!
