Official PC thread.

I'm running Windows 8 full time now. It's not bad. Takes some getting used to. I will be disabling MetroUI once I figure out how to do it though.

Is Windows 8 Pro worth the extra $40 over Windows 8 vanilla? Which to purchase? 8o

Any insights/advice?

If you're using windows 7 home premium and you're fine with that & you don't use media center then just get the core edition & save some money.

Idk if this is right place to post. But do you guys have any suggestions on what the best PC laptop is available right now? I was thinking of looking into a Samsung...But IDK where to start or if I should stick to a specific brand.

No SP2 for Windows 7
microsoft has been shafting windows 7 users too much to upgrade to windows 8.
think im done with microsoft & their software.

Yeah but you dont have to upgrade.  Microsoft supports all their Windows up to 10 years.  I think Windows 7 is by far one of the best OS Microsoft has ever came out with.

Windows 8 just has a huge learning curve one of the many reasons why I will stick with 7 until something more appealing comes out.

I like windows 8 so far, boot up time is amazing. I am waiting on SP1 before installing it on my rig, tho.

Sennheisers and sound card came in today.

I'll get the xonar stx next year. :rolleyes

The Xonar DG is solid, especially for the price. Mine just crapped out the other day, though. Only had it since July.

Can anyone recommend a case with a removable front panel to clean the fans? My room gets really dusty for some reason. Also something that will fit a fan like a cm 212.

I've actually been looking for a new soundcard and new speakers.
Been holding out until I see a good sale. 29 for the DG doesn't seem too bad.

Yeah, The DG is going good so far. I've never used or heard a stx in action but I can't imagine this sound getting any better.

Has anyone been able to upgrade to Windows 8 with HDDs set up in RAID?
I'm trying to do it but it's not giving me the option to keep my files and I don't want to format my hard drive

What do you guys think?

Not sure if there is any specific hardware you might need for a Hackintosh rig, but you have some quality components right there. The Extreme4 definitely has great value for its price.

Copped Windows 8 x64 System Builder off Amazon for $85 last night. Should be here in a couple of weeks. Can't wait. This rig needs a fresh install ASAP. :lol
