Official PC thread.

depending on the price, i'd personally go with a Celeron G530 & a cheap H61 board. The E-350 is so

imo & the HD graphics in the G530 are supposedly good enough to do everything besides gaming.

Got a revised list. My friends are telling me to go the itx route. Got a little misguided at first, I guess.

My Inno3D GTX 560 Ti has been acting up really weird lately. It averages around 50C on idle with the Gelid Icy Vision Rev. 2 cooler on. It randomly goes up to 82C on idle sometimes, too.

I think I've gotten a bad card right from the start. The card won't overclock well (really unstable). Only reason I bought the Icy Vision for it was because the stock cooler sucked #$%@ (it was effective for a while, though). I've remounted the thing four times already. Don't really know what's going on with it. Really pissed off my evening. Part of me wants to throw it away already.... or run it over.

In other news, finished my dad's HTPC-sized desktop PC. Spent about $25-30 less than expected.

The HTPC looks like food for my other tower.

Man, the difference an SSD makes (even if this one is only a SATA II one)

. Can't wait to get my Crucial M4 128GB this weekend.

I forgot to mention that my card has been running on stock clocks ever since it sucked at overclocking. Why bother, right?

^ Have you tried using the paperclip method of opening the drive?

If it doesn't work... at least ODDs are much cheaper these days ( <$20 ). I remember the last time I bought a ODD was around 2000-2001. Them things were 10x as expensive!

Still not really catching the Internet TV / 3D TV hype these days.

If you want to build an HTPC... check out the Antec ISK series. Wanted that chassis, but it wasn't available locally. So sleek

negative. the problem with pc components is that something new comes out every month.

upgrading a pc would be a pain in the %+#.

htpc is easier.
