backtotheknown...i like the 2nd shot as well. I know different people see different things and as for me I'm more of a composition (and cropping) kind of guy...I'm not a pro, just commenting based on my own opinion. (no ebayologist...) I cant show you what I mean because i dont have PS in my work computer, but if you crop the pic right below the number 2 (where its unfocused) and just before the end of the sleeve on his left arm.

The 1.8 is waaaay cheaper.
yeah I undertand that the 1.8 is cheaper, but would I get a better bang for my buck if I went with the 1.4? How much better is the 1.4 compared to the 1.8, iguess is what I'm asking.

If you don't adjust the white balance on your camera, you can do it in PS. In most cases, Auto Levels and Auto Colors should do it for you. Ibelieve the shortcuts for those are "Ctrl+Shift+L" and "Ctrl+Shift+B".

I read some where that the f/1.8 performs better than the f/1.4 because the distortion is lower. I think it was ken rockwell...but a lot of folks dont likehim for reason.

^ it's not cheating at all. Digital photography and Photoshop (or any other image processing program) go hand in hand. It's only when people go OD withcertain effects that a photo can appear less appealing.
The watch in your original image appears a bit out of focus. Beware of taking photos of subject close up. Some lenses have lower minimum focus distances thanothers.

This is my first time posting in this thread, and honestly, I probably think these pictures aren't really worthy. It's mostly location, and none if ittruly required any skill (point and shoot). I would love to get into photography, but it's an expensive hobby!
Anyway - I figured I would share these pictures:
Sunset in Jamaica:
Freakishly calm ocean on the west side of Barbados:
Rougher ocean on the east side:
Trying to photograph lightning(it was pitch black):
View from the patio:
Centipede/Millipede?:
Some old tower:
Maybe someday I'll own a professional quality camera and take professional camera photos, but for now I'll just try to frame my shots the best I canwith a point and shoot, and hope that the surroundings do the work for me. Not really a skill, but people can take really poor photos.
