***Official Political Discussion Thread***

You guys in here seem well informed on politics. Why do they do stuff like this? What’s the point? Serious question I’m not baiting or peddling “conspiracy theories” just want to know the reason behind this type of stuff?

Imagine your bonus being over 6 times your salary. Now imagine that that same bonus could retain everyone who got fired in the past 2 years for 2 more years with an increased salary. But poor people are the leeches on society.

not to mention their games lately have been completely flops on the blizzard side. Activision still living off the laurels of CoD.

like that other jackass from the Navy who they admitted was "a well known white Nazi sympathizer" around the base and it's like...

holup.
Spent my first 4 in the Nav, with white folks asking black folks how they made it through basic training because they thought “we” couldn’t swim. Last duty assignment in the Army, Fort Hood, this happens to a black NCO in another unit. If you think it’s bad for us in the military in general, imagine what it’s like for those of us who were in combat arms.

Why do CEOs need that much?

Well, at least from a multiplier perspective, it makes sense. It wouldn’t be in a company’s best interest to give executives a majority of their compensation in salary as opposed to bonus (not saying 6X is the right number or appropriate that’s up to someone’s opinion). Salary is static but kind of like they discuss in the article, the bonus is going to be tied to long-term term plans (we use a 3-tear horizon) based on stock price and various financial metrics. They get the glory but they are also the ones who get the blame if **** goes south.

As to why they get paid so much, I’ve always personally justified it as you more or less get paid as a function of how many people and/or how much money you’re responsible for and how you perform against that. Direct impact of your position/actions can be a factor as well for folks working in non-revenue generating positions like a CTO, Chief HR Officer, or something.

When I first started working and my group was having layoffs, I vowed that when I was a leader I would never allow for layoffs. However, as I got older, I realized they’re somewhat of a business reality as a last resort. I remember in 2019 I spent all of my company’s holiday break trying to temporarily place like 3000 workers elsewhere around the company so we wouldn’t have layoffs. **** was exhausting but working with HR and other sites I got it done. Turns out the return dates for some of the jobs got pushed way out so we unfortunately had to let some folks go. Sometimes it’s literally unavoidable based on the situation.
