From disenfranchising minority voters to a ridiculous obsession with rolling back LGBT rights. I noticed the GOP recently removed certain homophobic parts of their 2016 platform but they're not fooling anyone. The whole individual chapter about repealing gay marriage is gone now and they changed some of the wording in other parts. Then there's also their advocating for allowing businesses to discriminate based on religious beliefs. Those 2 points were repeated over and over and over again in the original platform, like some twisted obsession.
Some fine moral values there.

Why is the Libertarian Party still a thing?
The libertarian party is mostly a waste of time. This is made obvious by the fact that Evan Mccmullins third party run looks more viable than the Libertarian party.
You can't build a coalition of interests off of, small government, de ephmsized military and socially liberal attitudes. it's a mix that doesn't work.
-All the people who like small government, live in rural areas and are socially conservative and it will be that way for the foreseeable future.
-People who live in rural areas favor small government in basically every society.
- the abortion issue is pretty much ALWAYS going to be a wedge issue between liberals and conservatives.
- military gets a lot of it's members from rural communities, so they are incentivized to keep miliraty as large as possible.
If you are in favour of small goverment but your acceptance of abortion, and your military isolationism basically disqualifies you from winning southern and rural states then what can you win?
- minorities don't fetishsize small government like white people and probably never will, given the discrimination many face in the market place and the fact that many black and brown people entered the middle class through government work.
- urban areas have more minorities, and will always favor bigger government.
- your socially liberal policy is irrelevant when the democrats combine socially liberal with big government spending that appeals to urban communities.
I'm convinced at this point a Libertarian is only for dumb white guys who smoke weed and live in Colorado.

The Libertarian Party in pretty damb crazy famb. Matter of fact, many of the loony people in the GOP's base also claim to be libertarian.
The Libertarian Party pretty much have two factions. The true believer nuts jobs that adore people like Ron Paul, and the moderates that for some reason like Gary Johnson.
The problem is that the moderate libertarians can't/won't find spaces for them in the DNC, and they the RNC is too socially conservative and war hungry for most.
So the libertarians can't pull a siege of the GOP because they themselves have an identity crisis. Are they the party of a third way, or are they the party of diet white supremacist anarchism.
